That's less than a BCM would run me.
Custom kydex sheath for the Gerber prodigy came in today
Sweet
Nice. I like those Gerbers. My edc knife is a TOPS, and my combat knife is an ESEE
My dad has a mk ii and I've always had a thing for it. Beautiful curves
Unfortunately the modern ones have shit quality
According to this guide, larue for $800 is insanely cheap.
BCM complete uppers cost over $1000
Larue is very good. Focused more on precision than anything. Their triggers are a bit below geissele, though their accuracy and precision of machining is into the competition realm. It's not as crazy as other competition brands, but you also wouldn't want to take a heavy Krieger barrel into battle
I haven't looked at how well their receivers match up but they're known for having one of the best upper receivers out there, and top quality qd optic mounts
Well the lower will be an 80%er anyway
Only two minor complaints. They refuse to say what their barrel is made out of, though it's very accurate. They exclusively sell on their website, though they have good discounts from time to time.
When on sale, their trigger is $80 which is fantastic for a trigger similar to geissele but with a slightly longer reset
So is Geissele basically best of the best triggers?
That's the impression I used to be under years ago.
There's other triggers that match geissele in quality but none have the track record geissele does
Timney and the ar gold trigger come to mind as a couple
I mean as far as rifle triggers go, the milspec ar15 trigger is pretty good anyway, but there's some really nice ones out there
Why wouldn’t I take a heavy Krieger into battle?
Because it's heavy and sucks to carry. I'd run it on a precision rifle but not a carbine
Lol I gotta stop looking at Gucci gear when my budget is potato haha.
I'd much rather have a chrome lined chf barrel on a doorkicker gun
Meh. Your gun is pretty much the lightest bit of kit you have to deal with, I wouldn’t be concerned until you get up past 12lbs
I have a larue UU kit ordered with their stripped lower
Going to take like 4 fucking months though
Nice
My recce rifle with bipod and suppressor is a hair over 13lbs, just under 12 without them
Ounces equal pounds. If you can cut weight without sacrificing utility, it's worth it no matter how strong you are.
A heavy 11.5 barrel weighs twice what a contoured one does
I mean yes. But build a rifle that is capable of fulfilling its role, then worry about weight.
My main carbine weighs 8.25lbs
Functionality is a given. I mean we don't congratulate people for not shitting their pants.
I kinda feel like stoner's design got bastardized. A rifle may be extremely good quality with a DD government barrel and a KAC quad rail, then maybe an elcan, PEQ, another flashlight, and so on. Then you have a 6 pound rifle except it's 10 pounds with a barrel that's half the length
Maybe not an elcan on a 10.3 but you get the point
Elcan on 10.3 is goon certified
Yes, but capabilities. An M16A2 can’t do half of the shit that a kitted out carbine can, fact.
Definitely has more capabilities but certain design aspects are regressive, mainly the barrel and rail. The attachments are gonna add weight regardless but some things seem to be contrary to the original philosophy for the sake of either politics or dumbass officers, usually both
Also god damn I wish I could afford an elcan spectre. I forgot they had the 1-4
I love the idea of a throw lever instead of zoom
