Anybody recommend a PASGT helmet? I've been looking at them and the surplus isn't stupid expensive
Some ppl say that the kevlar will deteriorate after a few years but i've seen tests of old PASGT helmets and they were still able to stop pistol bullets. I picked one up for like $40 with face shield and it's a little too big but it's better than nothing, even if I never wear it.
If you can afford an ACH it would be better
So bottom line it would hold while I save up to replace it?
Let me look an an ACH, i may know what it is, just might not know the name
Yeah, lol. Almost the same thing
Thats not too far outside of the budget. You said its better, so I'll look around and determine. Thanks for the tip my guy
Np I've seen a couple videos of ACH defeating ak rounds, at a distance but still. No idea if pasgt would be able to do that, I just assumed ACH is better because it's newer.
Fair enough. Especially in terms of surplus
@poorwithagat ACH is much much better than PASGT, I’d be happy to break it down if you’re curious
Tbh i would
Like whats the advantages over PASGT?
Here's what looks like an ad for the ACH
Any good iron sights recommendations?
@Elephant_seal yea, buy an optic
@𝔑𝔢𝔭𝔥𝔯𝔦𝔰 lol I planned on it but I want to have back up sights
Would recommend against the plastic magpul mbus sights. They're not durable enough and can have their zero knocked loose. I might suggest KAC flip up irons
I've heard troy flip up irons are good but fuck troy
ARMS are a classic but apparently you can break the back sight if you knock it into something
Lwrc skirmish sights FTW
KAC’s are the best if you can afford them. The magpul PRO’s are much better than the oem backups and are reasonably priced
@poorwithagat PASGT is heavier, protects against less threats, and doesn’t do suspicion harness well, doesn’t protect against TBI’s, and is much harder to attach other capabilities to
The leitner-wise (of lwrci) e-sites are supposed to be good to
The only advantage of the PASGT over the ACH is price, but ACH’s and equivalent contract helmets can be had for ~150
Garand Thumb recommends a cheap optic over quality irons cause he says they'll run you about the same price anyway and optics are superior.
I’m gonna have to disagree with him there
Irons are a staple to a good rifle
I disagree with him too, but I'm a nubcake. I plan to buy really nice flip irons first, then save up for a decent optic later.
I have a set of FAB defense tritium coming in soon, going to see how they work out.
I originally bought the magpuls for my cheap starter rifle, and I don't care for them, mostly because my old eyes won't focus correctly.
Volley sights or nothing...
I’m just saying at least get mbus sights before a vortex
Irons are gay tbh
And stand alone backups are outdated
Psych
Not when you’ve got a vortex crossfire that’ll break when you look at it funny
If you’re on a flat range go ahead ig
I remember him advocating for fixed front sight posts I think
My thought is, I've never had an optic fail on me, though most of them have been duty grade, but it's better to have a backup and know that it will hold zero than to not have it and have some wacky shit happen to your sight because the stars aligned.
