@GRANITE I have personal experience with them and prefer the sawyer over the lifestraw

2020-05-13 15:34:56 UTC

What state is that? They've been pretty chill in MN.

2020-05-13 15:35:24 UTC

In the Democratic peoples rebuplic of Massachusetts

2020-05-13 15:35:50 UTC

Lol

2020-05-13 15:36:25 UTC

That shit didn't fly here lol

2020-05-13 15:36:36 UTC

The people said hell no

2020-05-13 15:37:39 UTC

Capital D intentionally included lol. Our "Republican" party here is basically six guys and three women. Gov. Baker wandered in one day and being the youngest man they had seen attend in 30 years, he gets to be governor for a whileπŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

2020-05-13 15:38:39 UTC

@GRANITE never personally used but from what I've read the Sawyer mini is better, but curious how well they work too.

2020-05-13 15:39:33 UTC

The sawyer mini is superior

2020-05-13 15:40:10 UTC

Just for the fact you can use it in line with you hydro carrier makes it better for me. But it had a cleaner taste also.

2020-05-13 15:40:32 UTC

I'd opt for the Sawyer squeeze. Same thing as the mini with a better flow rate.

2020-05-13 15:40:41 UTC

@GRANITE I've been stocking up on purification tablets. I'm curious about the life straw type devices but aside from camping I don't really see them being terribly useful long term

2020-05-13 15:41:50 UTC

doesnt hurt to have some tablets and a life straw

2020-05-13 15:41:59 UTC

I don't see the difference in the 2 party system. There's just an "us and them" now. The politicians are just slightly oppressive to extremely oppressive. There's very few "I stand for the people" politicians now days.

2020-05-13 15:42:03 UTC

I have a HikerPro Katadyn filter. Love it

2020-05-13 15:42:18 UTC

Same

2020-05-13 15:42:28 UTC

More expensive than a lifestraw, but worth it

2020-05-13 15:42:56 UTC

The sawyer is the same price

2020-05-13 15:43:33 UTC

@Mountain Man πŸ” I'm just worried about like long term need for replacement. I haven't really read up or looked but I can't imagine they would be good for day to day use for too long. But I'm going shopping today anyway so now I gotta get oneπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

2020-05-13 15:44:21 UTC

yeah my life straw lasted like 3 camping trips. And i usually camp once a month sooo that aint gonna cut it cheif

2020-05-13 15:44:34 UTC

Where I live it's common to stay over 90 degrees, even at night and especially in the summer. Combine that with 80+% humidity most of the year. And you need some serious water supplies. Dehydration is a constant risk in southern Texas

2020-05-13 15:45:15 UTC

Get a filter with a serviceable (cleanable) ceramic filter

2020-05-13 15:45:27 UTC

@Lucky Texan the founders feared the two party system would lead to just that. They've become a pair of brothers who disagree on hard to beat up their little brother(us) and if to let them keep 1/2 or 1/4 of their lunch money

2020-05-13 15:45:30 UTC

Minnesota has a practically infinite source of fresh water if you have the means to purify it.

2020-05-13 15:46:14 UTC

Hell, I carry over a gallon of water when I leave the house most days. lol

2020-05-13 15:46:15 UTC

@Bogs_Bunny and land if you can take it lol

2020-05-13 15:48:01 UTC

I mean, I still drink WAY to much coffee but im up to at least 1/2 gallon of water a day. More if its above 40. *gettin sweaty over here boss*

2020-05-13 15:48:28 UTC

*drinkin it up over here boss*

2020-05-13 15:48:51 UTC

No cool hand luke fans??

2020-05-13 15:48:56 UTC

I've considered a Sawyer Point Zero Two home base filter

2020-05-13 15:49:06 UTC

Lol yeah I got it

2020-05-13 15:49:13 UTC

Classic movie

2020-05-13 15:49:28 UTC

Hell yeah

2020-05-13 15:50:56 UTC

Now ive gotta try to find more than one type of straw? Im gonna look hella dumb to the wife. New straws, drinkin out the terlet. Not the strangest shes seen me do but still....

2020-05-13 15:51:53 UTC

Lol well Sawyer makes a few models.

2020-05-13 15:54:23 UTC

Yeah the Sawyer seem legit, anyone have any bad experiences with them yet?

2020-05-13 15:55:53 UTC

On a more serious note, I did see something *really* strange on my trip into Worcester today.
The two gun shops I passed on the way(one small locally owned and a larger one) both had police sitting in the lots. The small one in my town is usually frequented by the local pd so no shocker there, but the other larger shop had a state police cruiser clearly just staking out the lot. MA is NOT gun friendly but seeing that was.....concerning. The Gov just had to allow the shops to open back up, and I got the "intimidation" vibe from the statey camped out

2020-05-13 15:56:29 UTC

Mini and Squeeze aka Point One are comparable to the lifestraw. The squeeze is thicker than the mini for faster water flow. They have a base camp gravity style one called the Point Zero Two. The filtration holes are five times smaller.

2020-05-13 16:00:54 UTC

@Bogs_Bunny so the point zero two would be my best bet?

2020-05-13 16:01:54 UTC

Yeah but it's bigger with a slower flow. More suitable for a home or base camp.

2020-05-13 16:03:49 UTC

@Bogs_Bunny hell yeah, thanks. What would you recommend for on the go, the point one?
