I don't know, I was raised with a strong sense of Italian American identity even though I'm 4th gen. I don't find that same level of identity with a lot of other European ethnic groups. Not trying to start a tribal war. Just an observation

White folks raised in more homogenous areas aren't subject to the same environmental pressures and probably don't really think much about their ethnicity as a result

Part of seed of diversity fetish is europeans had very different identities. So when mixed they lost that sense of specialness and it was easy to just let anyone in.
