up until the pandemic i thought Trump would have the election in the bag

but considering he's implentening the minimum effort possible to prevent the spread i think his apporval ratings will begin to tank when the rest of the world is recovering and we're still mired in an outbreak

-Border enforcement
-Travel ban
-Emergency funding
-Defense production act
-Nat emergency
-Relief bill
And now:
-Lots of testing
-Lockdown in places
- CARE act (economic relief bill from the Senate GOP) passed.

it's really a two-pronged problem: the economy he hinged most of his presidency on is tanking and is likely only in the beginning of a massive crash

See the way I see it, the economy crash is very visible to be an exogenous shock - people won't blame him for that, it's why his approval of the economy is steady. But people seeing him handling the crisis well? That'll go down good.

and then he decided to combat what he framed as an invisible enemy, equivalent to a terrorist invasion of the US, for only 15 days

and then open up all the businesses again

Nah he said he will consider it, and review it.

But it's not likely to happen.

Personally I think he's done a really good job at it, the US as a whole has unrivaled capabilities to mitigate this virus.

It should be gone by summer.

Honestly I don't think his approval rating is going to tank through this event. Trump voters stand by Trump no matter what it is he does like he is their father and nothing we can do is going to change that.

Trump voters seem to look at politics as a team sport like football. I feel like they think that they can't disrespect their sports team (in this case Trump).
