and again using someone's preferred name and pronouns can sort of show them whether or not they are trans
if you get what i mean?
I get that 100%
introducing hormones doesn't change your gender
like they might feel uncomfortable with it, but if you never use it they'll never know
introducing hormones does not change your gender, trans men are men and trans women are women no matter if they start hrt or not
@Darman you can change your secondary sex characteristics, so that others will read you as that gender in public
yes, but scientifically they are their biological gender
of course
:/
I'm never going to grab someone by the neck saying "you better watch it or you'll go home in an ambulence" for calling me a girl though
sex and gender correlate with each other or meaning they are the same
gender and sex are the same thing
that's actually kind of debatable
they're directly correlated, but not technically the same *thing*
for cisgender people, gender feels like their sex so they don't discern the difference. transgender peoples' gender doesn't align with their sex, hence needing to transition
sex is biological and physical, gender is simply a set of roles and stereotypes assigned with one's sex
they are, for example if you see a male on the street, what do you call them? you call them a man and the as for female you call them woman.
gender is inherently a human and a social construct
ya its not
2 genders
roles and expressions based on gender are, not gender
^
that makes the most sense
inherent behaviors are not social, they're biological
of course there will always be anomalies, as occurs in nature, but in general that's the fact
oh yeah that's what i'm saying
i say gender is a social construct as it's simpler
but gender roles and stereotypes are what we need to rid ourselves of, not gender itself
it's useful, you could argue, as a way of labelling people
we shouldnt get rid of all stereotypes
woman are more caring and affectionate, thus better caretakers for children. getting rid of the motherly stereotype is possibly dangerous
stereotypes are harmful when it applies to discrimination. but simply acknowledging them helps our society more than it hurts
just like being "colorblind" is actually very harmful
Women can have careers, their main job is to look after the house and the children.
