Society creates policy
13% but 50%
You know what pluribus unum means? It doesn’t stand for everyone in the world, that’s a misconception. It really was dubbed after the 13 colonies for the Whites that rebelled in the colonies.
i see that shit spammed everywhere
policy is a direct result of legislation, which may or may not be related to what society as a whole wants
for example, US foreign policy basically ignroes the citizenry
Heh I prove me case.
People vote for legislators
They do, but that doesn't mean you get the outcome you want, especially in a winner-take-all two party system
much policy is decided at the agency level, and the ratio of rep to population has become very lopsided
etc
add in gerrymandering, etc, and things are not that simpe as 'society votes for legislators'
In any case u r shifting the focus. Point is if you’re going to have reparations for slavery there needs to be reparations for the excessive black crimes in the country also
🆙 | **Melania’s Jacket leveled up!**
I think that’s fair
go for it, but they are very different. slavery was a gov endorsed system. the gov does not endorse murder, and criminals are arrested if caught
and put in prison. much of that also instigated by the drug war, a failed policy that encourages crime
We need race education in our school systems to show the reality of certain races based on IQ and genetic differences.
Race education!
🧠
Also the drug war is necessary
hi
Slavery wasn't just something "i don't like" slvery was a massive system of exploitation, a stain on america, and to add insult to injury, the slaveOWNERS were paid reparations, not the slaves
it would also be a start toward addressing some economic warfare probelms we have even today, as in the forementioned textile mills processing slavery grown cotton
we can use that format against other corporations today that exploit Americans
See, it’s exactly how I said “this big bad thing happened gimme money”
Just give everyone UBI and nobody is going to ask for reparations
Why not just put them in forced labor camps
yup, another issue is fiscal policy in general, broad based would be the most equitable
@sea hey
a separate but also important issue
sup
Average american isn't a slave, but the declining share of gross income to workers shows a lot
we are seeing a union revival with people like Sara Nelson, etc
exploiting slaves was part of the package of exploiting workers in general
I’m trying to convince people that reparations is a retarded idea, what do you think?@sea
Basic take moment
