The reason for the economic growth during this period, was simply due to market forces being allowed to take their test. Which makes sense, however, during the plan economy period there was still a growth of around 11% despite heavy sanctions being put against Italy. It's therefor safe to say, that if Italy had implemented plan economy earlier, the economy would've grown much better than during the liberal economic period.

Though, you also forget that these private industries were subject to a harsh price-control regulations. Effectively, they worked as government owned industries as they were subject to state-control.

Though, it should be noted that taxes did indeed fall under Hitler. Though, that was mostly because Hitler refused to pay the money that the treaty at Versailles demanding a huge debt upon Germany.

It should be noted as well, that the individual tax rate for most Germans (Not counting top and bottom tax) was 13,7%. With the income tax in Denmark being 12,16%.
