Actually abolishing slavery wasn't on the list until runaway slaves and black free men started joining the military

2019-10-08 00:24:41 UTC

The true goal was to stop the Southern Democrats from seceding

2019-10-08 00:25:55 UTC

^

2019-10-08 00:26:35 UTC

Then it became if you rebel than your slaves will be freed then afterwards slaves = people

2019-10-08 01:43:56 UTC

@Shockwave i dont know much about the 19th century politics of america haha

2019-10-08 01:44:08 UTC

other than the major events and general economic situation

2019-10-08 01:46:22 UTC

The north didn't need the slave labor because they weren't growing very much food or cash crops

2019-10-08 01:46:32 UTC

The ground was too rocky

2019-10-08 01:48:26 UTC

also the climate wasn't ideal

2019-10-08 02:17:26 UTC

Some parts of the north could've been slave states if the balance of slave and free states didn't matter

2019-10-08 02:18:22 UTC

I think william henry harrison wanted illinois to be a slave state

2019-10-08 10:01:23 UTC

Some parts of the north could've been slave states if all the retarded religious farmers weren't congregated in the south

2019-10-09 03:28:21 UTC

whatchu talkin about honkey?

2019-10-09 03:28:30 UTC

We need to implement equal pay and make rich people pay more taxes to give to poor people

2019-10-09 03:30:32 UTC

Which poor people. And how much more taxes. @TheRipeBanana

2019-10-09 03:32:37 UTC

Anyone who makes less then 10k a year, and use the taxes to benefit our society as a whole, fixing infrastructure, things like that, and then we give out what is left equally back to everyone in the society @Shockwave

2019-10-09 03:53:03 UTC

sounds like andrew yang

2019-10-09 04:07:11 UTC

#YangGang

2019-10-09 05:44:46 UTC

But there is a problem, what about all the homeless people?

2019-10-09 06:21:34 UTC

What about them? They are helped too

2019-10-09 06:21:56 UTC

I assume some of them would use the aid to get drugs and alcohol while they remain homeless

2019-10-09 06:22:32 UTC

But that doesn't mean you don't try

2019-10-09 06:28:49 UTC

But, the problem is that they don't have a birth certificate or ID

2019-10-09 06:29:00 UTC

So the system will be hard on them

2019-10-09 06:32:21 UTC

Oh yeah, I mean, they would still need to get their shit together as far as documents go. Maybe additional aid would be motivation?

2019-10-09 06:32:51 UTC

Lots of different programs to help the homeless, not an expert so I don't know which ones are working well and which aren't

2019-10-09 06:34:01 UTC

I don't know man, California seems like it's at a loss

2019-10-09 08:30:23 UTC

The homeless problem is largely a drug problem, and a problem with decriminalization of misdemeanors.

2019-10-09 08:31:29 UTC

Broken windows theory 2.0

2019-10-09 08:34:55 UTC

Due to essentially full decriminalization of the possession of smallish amount of hardcore drugs. The availability of these drugs is very high in homeless populations.

2019-10-09 08:35:37 UTC

Now someone might have only been homeless for a few weeks or months due to a round of bad luck but then they get hooked on drugs and stay homeless forever

2019-10-09 08:36:42 UTC

The prosecutors refuse to prosecute the possession, and the judges give essentially a slap on the wrist or no sentence at all.

2019-10-09 08:37:20 UTC

The police know this so they often don't arrest anyone for misdemeanors or hardcore drug possession at all (unless it is in very large amounts).

2019-10-09 08:37:31 UTC

because it's pointless

2019-10-09 08:41:09 UTC

They have their lawless, liberal paradise from prosecutorial discretion.

2019-10-09 08:51:17 UTC

Lol yeah we have a homeless problem because the war on drugs isn't harsh enough

2019-10-09 08:51:32 UTC

That sure was well thought out, wasn't it?
