If I keep up this level of paranoia, I may be able to stave off the 'inevitable' negligent discharge.

2018-07-22 11:30:23 UTC

I already had an ND on the range

2018-07-22 11:30:29 UTC

Spooked me into diligence

Should we get Neo Centrist to add videos from Demolition Ranch too?

Ofc he will stare

2018-07-22 13:43:55 UTC

Because it is a fokking AR18, mate

2018-07-22 16:12:45 UTC

>You could never take on the US military with AR-15s!
>AR-15s are Military Weapons.
Pick one. And I'm still not giving you my guns.

2018-07-22 16:23:38 UTC

Also, closest thing I've had to an ND, I got put in an awkward situation by a range owner... First time at their range with my new handgun. I'm practicing, familiarizing myself with my first handgun, and the range owner calls cease fire, calls me over.

2018-07-22 16:24:16 UTC

Next thing I know, he's flung a snake about 10 feet away from me.

2018-07-22 16:26:57 UTC

Outside the context of the range, I *could* have had my first ND. After dealing with the snake, I turned away, and realized I still had my finger on the trigger.

2018-07-22 16:32:31 UTC

Gave me an appreciation for trigger discipline.

2018-07-22 16:32:35 UTC

Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with gun terms since I don't own one yet

2018-07-22 16:32:38 UTC

What is ND?

2018-07-22 16:32:46 UTC

Negligent Discharge.

2018-07-22 16:32:50 UTC

Ah

2018-07-22 16:33:18 UTC

Once I'm done getting a few more things that I need more than a gun, I plan to purchase my first gun

2018-07-22 16:33:26 UTC

Hopefully by year's end

2018-07-22 16:33:33 UTC

What would you recommend?

2018-07-22 16:34:30 UTC

Depends. Do you like Hard Mode?

2018-07-22 16:34:44 UTC

If I'm target practicing, sure

2018-07-22 16:34:54 UTC

If I need it for self defense, probably not

2018-07-22 16:35:24 UTC

A Mosin Nagant is a rather simple gun, easy to understand.

2018-07-22 16:35:41 UTC

Able to put a solid dent in a quarter-inch thick steel plate

2018-07-22 16:35:49 UTC

Mmm

2018-07-22 16:36:01 UTC

No room for a scope, only iron sights.

2018-07-22 16:36:07 UTC

Cheap.

2018-07-22 16:36:34 UTC

But it fires about 60 cents down range every shot, and only holds 5 cartridges.

2018-07-22 16:37:49 UTC

Still, another benefit is that it's a gun you can actually break down to components to inspect

2018-07-22 16:38:20 UTC

And that, I feel, is an important learning experience, when trying to learn and understand guns.

2018-07-22 16:38:51 UTC

Yeah. I'm subscribed to Forgotten Weapons as well, so I've learned a lot of the basics of firearms disassembly from that

2018-07-22 16:40:04 UTC

I was thinking I'd probably get a rifle and a handgun first

2018-07-22 16:40:18 UTC

I made a point of getting a rifle, handgun, and shotgun.

2018-07-22 16:40:54 UTC

My dad has a shotgun that I'll probably inherit from him. Granted, it's 14 gauge and we have no idea who the manufacturer is

2018-07-22 16:40:59 UTC

bolt-action with a 3 round mag

2018-07-22 16:41:23 UTC

I've got an Ithica Featherlight.

2018-07-22 16:41:59 UTC

Cool thing about it is, it's capable of 'Slam Fire'.

2018-07-22 16:42:10 UTC

If I hold down the trigger and pump the slide

2018-07-22 16:42:16 UTC

I can fire as fast as I pump.
