i'm certain that with modern materials a rimless shell could be constructed. you'd give up the ability to have different lengths, but that wouldn't be particularly important in a self-loader meant for rapid fire close range fire.
sleeve wouldn't even need to be the full length of the shell
maybe make it 1/3" wide, and place it 2/3" from the base
i don't think that would be adequate to prevent rimlock
why not?
I guess you could make the sleeve full length then, with a taper down to the rim.
ideally you'd have something as close to a perfect cylinder as possible to prevent any tipping or rocking
(which is what prevents rimlock on fully "rimless" cartridges)
which, incidentally, have rims, lol. (whether you call it a "groove" or a "rim", it's the same geometry)
@Atkins you want to go into business selling pieces of slightly tapered plastic tube which convert standard shotgun shells to "rimless" (a.k.a. groovy) shells?
we can file the patent on Monday
Standard license fee for the advanced alien technology: 0.02USD (or about 3-6% of the cost of a standard 12ga shotgun shell)

I got a shield 9x19
Best groups were around 1" at 7

God Bless America.
Pump action shotguns are not hard to convert to mag feed from tube feed in a technical sense
The harder part is to make that a reliable feed and not let the mag spring squish the soft shotgun shells while being strong enough to push them up quickly
I have also seen the mix-feed shotguns which can do tube feed and mag feed at the exhibition (for that sports shooting categories weirdness)

@RyeNorth Give me a recommendation for a .45 acp that is not a 1911
I'm curious what you think since you're relatively new
I can't even SPELL acp.
I'm not a gun fanatic, I'm just a gun owner.
That's why I want your 2c
Nothing caught your eye?
If I were buying one, it'd probably either be Beretta or Walther
More walther love
My first and only handgun so far is a Walther.
