So, issue. My AR build needs a new fore-end, which means I need a new AFG. I like doing C-clamp grip (inb4 MUH HSLD) and my only issue with my current setup (besdies the whole Keymod thing) is that it gets....very warm very fast. Any ideas on how to mitigate it?

I wonder if there's some kind of thermally insulating something or another I can make a custom sort of AFG/thingy with.

well, there are a couple of ways to deal with heat. one is a heavier barrel - simply more mass to absorb the heat will mean it'll heat up slower. another way is to get rid of heat faster by having more surface area to radiate the heat. finally there's just insulating the handguard better.

how long is your barrel? heat tends to build up near the gas block so if that's where your hand is you'll feel it sooner than if your hand was in the middle of the barrel
