"we deport you to mexico" - "but i'm not from mexico" - "so where are you from?" - "why would i tell you?"

2018-02-23 14:19:22 UTC

you HAVE to account for that

2018-02-23 14:19:31 UTC

Go by the nationality of the parents.

2018-02-23 14:19:53 UTC

why would they tell you?

2018-02-23 14:20:15 UTC

Well they obviously came from somewhere.

2018-02-23 14:20:22 UTC

sure

2018-02-23 14:20:39 UTC

how do you know where they were coming from?

2018-02-23 14:21:13 UTC

I think it's a safe bet if they only speak spanish, look latino, and don't have any legal documentation and are here illegally in the first place.

2018-02-23 14:21:28 UTC

spain?

2018-02-23 14:22:01 UTC

..you do know that there are vast differences between Spain and Mexico, right? Even Mexican "Spanish" is not even 'proper' Spanish anymore.

2018-02-23 14:22:23 UTC

i do know that... can you prove it?

2018-02-23 14:22:40 UTC

Here e go with the runaround again.

2018-02-23 14:22:56 UTC

"You don't have the perfect solution that can account for every little thing, therefore it is invalid."

2018-02-23 14:22:58 UTC

and if you don't, why would mexico take them?

2018-02-23 14:23:16 UTC

Because they're already mexican citizens.

2018-02-23 14:23:49 UTC

are they? why would mexico not just say otherwise?

2018-02-23 14:24:05 UTC

Then we make Mexico take them back.

2018-02-23 14:24:30 UTC

I ask, what is the point of immigration laws, then, if you just let people come in by the millions and do nothing about it?

2018-02-23 14:24:34 UTC

"Oh well, they're here anyway."

2018-02-23 14:24:39 UTC

Why even have an immigration policy?

2018-02-23 14:24:42 UTC

That's just open borders.

2018-02-23 14:25:34 UTC

you have to account for people that do not cooperate, otherwise no one will cooperate

2018-02-23 14:25:59 UTC

that statement is quite a bit different than calling for open borders 😉

2018-02-23 14:25:59 UTC

Then they should be made to leave. The law should be enforced in the same way that any law is enforced.

2018-02-23 14:26:16 UTC

It's still open borders in function.

2018-02-23 14:26:22 UTC

The effect is the same.

2018-02-23 14:27:16 UTC

sure, but you need a way to properly enforce it and that has to take into account that some people will not give you the information what country they are coming from.

2018-02-23 14:28:05 UTC

hey mexico, take this venezuelan or we make you is not really helpful 😉

2018-02-23 14:28:44 UTC

It would be in their interest to make sure that the person is from Venezuelan then, wouldn't it?

2018-02-23 14:29:27 UTC

There's not going to be a perfect/clean solution to this. The only way for this to end perfectly is if we enforced immigration law in the first place and just not let them come here illegally.

2018-02-23 14:29:30 UTC

It will be messy.

2018-02-23 14:29:46 UTC

That's just life.

2018-02-23 14:30:21 UTC

it would be in their interest not have the US try and send Venezuelans to their country in the first place 😉

2018-02-23 14:30:59 UTC

you HAVE to rely on others when it comes to immigration, there is no way around it

2018-02-23 14:31:35 UTC

So because some outliers and of some people that won't cooperate, we shouldn't enforce immigration policy?

2018-02-23 14:31:56 UTC

no. you should find a way to account for the outliers

2018-02-23 14:32:29 UTC

Frankly, I myself personally don't care, since again they're here illegally in the first place.

2018-02-23 14:32:34 UTC

preferably one that does not include executions 😄

2018-02-23 14:32:41 UTC

If they get lost in the system, that's the risk *they* took in coming here illegally.

2018-02-23 14:33:01 UTC

"You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here."

2018-02-23 14:33:43 UTC

If they want to get lost/stranded in some other country they know nothing of because they don't want to cooperate, that's on them.
