don't hire unqualified people, turn them into qualified people and then hire them based on their qualifications
might be more expensive in the short run but will end up with a working system in the forseeable future... affirmative action ensures that you will have unqualified people forever
I agree, affirmative action was always a shit solution. I like to compare it to a gun shot. Black America was shot repeatedly by the Government. The government then realized they were in the wrong and decided know what, weβre sorry, let me help you. Then they went to the bleeding black guy and handed him a Band-aid called affirmative action. The band-aid doesnβt actually make the bullet wound go away, & barely stops the bleeding. All it does is cover up the wound so nobody has to look at it anymore.
The black guy is still on the ground bleeding out, and the government gets to pretend like it actually helped
Meanwhile all it did was make everything worse like usual
but hey... feminism is working on making affirmative action redundant... so there is one good thing coming out if it π
Plz no
if you can self identify as a black woman you get all the affirmative action you want π
replacing the unqualified black workers with unqualified female workers as a forced quota wont help the business or hard working people
and saying that you are not a black woman makes them a racist, transphobic bigot π
funny thing is that if women just accepted a 23% pay cut they'd actually achieve their hiring amount π
they could also just work higher paid jobs to fill that 23% black hole
and "they" does not include every single woman.
no it wouldnt
if they only work 77% of the time they'll get paid 77% of the 100% wage at any salary
they work more than 77% of the time.
but the adjusted pay gap is somewhere between 4% and 6% and still does not include every variable.
because you can't include every variable
there is no variable
if you're not happy with it, you don't take the job
i worked a job where we got 2% of every sale. that is a variable that can not appropriately be included in a statistic like that.
that is the accepted wage then
the accepted wage was the base salary π
and the additional 2%
sure.
but how do you reflect that in stats like that?
you really can't - which gets reflected in that 4% - 6%
which is just there and will not go away
you don't have to
its not my reponsibility to ensure what you get paid is fair
you have to if you want to have accurate statistics
(i'm talking about that pay gap stat...)
you don't have to
If i agree to work for someone for free, i can't start complaining that others earn an infinity amount more
that would be your individual choice which has barely any impact on high-number stats π
it applies to everyone
sure
no one is forcing a woman to work for less than a man
if she doesn't like it she doesn't need to accept the job with said associated pay
and if you combine everyones choices to get to 4% - 6% difference in pay if you seperate by gender
i personally prefer to seperate by shoe size
