you can see that principle in play in the welfare system

People don't try to escape it because they'll loose their welfare

they rather complain to get more and do nothing

2018-02-27 08:53:17 UTC

because in the west they're given enough to survive, theres no need to escape it

2018-02-27 08:53:56 UTC

I don't think they should be left to die, necessarily.

2018-02-27 08:54:25 UTC

I do think supporting those with disabilities IS in our best interest as a society

2018-02-27 08:54:43 UTC

being left to die is a strong word

But able bodied people that just "sit around" and don't want to work shouldn't be given just a handout because the system is lenient

2018-02-27 08:55:09 UTC

The term I turn to is 'comfort in poverty'

2018-02-27 08:55:14 UTC

yes

2018-02-27 08:56:12 UTC

and i agree, people who are in dire due to disabilities or real misfortune i feel okay helping

But stuff like, people who just eat all day and turn fat then demand disability money
smokers who need extra health-care

freeloaders who demand money and spit on other people

no, they have got to go

2018-02-27 08:57:19 UTC

i mean when that migrant crisis happened in 2015, some refugees who came to the netherlands complained because they were given a bottle of water at the refugee center, not a bottle of wine.

Like really? i'd beat them senseless with a hammer if i was in charge, just for that

2018-02-27 08:57:37 UTC

and 'left to die' is a strong word?

2018-02-27 08:58:09 UTC

I retract that statement

2018-02-27 08:58:14 UTC

realizing that it was attached to the line above.

2018-02-27 08:58:17 UTC

well, turning fat, smoking or just couch-potatoing are self-made situations

2018-02-27 08:58:18 UTC

I can agree. -_-

2018-02-27 08:58:34 UTC

I mean, kind of.

2018-02-27 08:58:55 UTC

i know, fat isn't always a food issue, there are some health conditions that make you fat

2018-02-27 08:59:09 UTC

Naah, I'm referring to the inability to find work.

2018-02-27 08:59:31 UTC

I've been working for a delivery service as of late, and it's super crappy, but it's all I can find at the moment.

2018-02-27 08:59:50 UTC

I used to make 19/h in DC before I moved back to my podunk town

2018-02-27 09:00:02 UTC

well, that would sort itself out if you remove the welfare system

then those bottom/freeloaders won't come here, and work illegally for some extra

meaning those jobs need to be filled by legal workers

2018-02-27 09:00:14 UTC

This service I'm lucky to be making 5/h. Yeah, I said 2.5 below minimum wage.

2018-02-27 09:00:20 UTC

ouch

2018-02-27 09:01:04 UTC

but i mean like, stuff those illegal mexicans do in America, where they collect welfare (which costs tax money) and then paint fences on the side without paying taxes over it.

minimum wage labor etc

2018-02-27 09:01:20 UTC

those sort of jobs will then open up to the public

2018-02-27 09:01:26 UTC

Oh, you've got it slightly wrong...

2018-02-27 09:01:29 UTC

i do?

2018-02-27 09:01:31 UTC

Where are you from, jay

2018-02-27 09:01:34 UTC

Netherlands

2018-02-27 09:01:37 UTC

ah, got it

2018-02-27 09:01:51 UTC

So, in the United States, we've got labor laws.

2018-02-27 09:02:00 UTC

Minimum wage is $7.25/h

2018-02-27 09:02:22 UTC

but, you see, that only applies to... LEGAL employees....

2018-02-27 09:02:28 UTC

yes

2018-02-27 09:02:39 UTC

when they do the whole 'terk muh jerb' meme

2018-02-27 09:03:20 UTC

they're referring to illegal immigrants who come in, accept less than minimum wage for work, and live 8 people to a room in a house somewhere

2018-02-27 09:03:46 UTC

occasionally, they might make a decent amount from under-the-table work

2018-02-27 09:03:46 UTC

yes

2018-02-27 09:04:09 UTC

I'm not so sure they generally collect wellfare

2018-02-27 09:04:16 UTC

some might find a way

2018-02-27 09:04:28 UTC

technically, everyone pays taxes at the store.

2018-02-27 09:05:08 UTC

well true on that part

but i meant like the under the table work

If theres no illegals to do those jobs, the people who need them done will either have to do it themselves, or pay someone legally

and that would allow someone to start a business to fulfill those jobs again
