Both demographically and econonically/politically

2018-04-04 23:31:22 UTC

( i butchered that spelling)

2018-04-04 23:32:28 UTC

Again, though, that doesn't detract from my point that I'd rather Mexico be a legitimate country with it's own flourishing economy and an actual trade partner and just justifies that desire.

2018-04-04 23:32:57 UTC

But that's just not gonna happen without massive changes, changes which I don't see as likely to happen 'on their own.'

2018-04-04 23:33:34 UTC

I would agree with that. They should sink or swim on their own. Unfortunately if they do fail then nothing short of a solid wall from Pacific to Gulf would prevent a tidal wave of people coming north

2018-04-04 23:33:37 UTC

@JadenFrostwolf The only way that could happen if Mexico had a better population and a homogeneous population.

2018-04-04 23:34:10 UTC

Mexico is pretty homogeneous, isn't it?

2018-04-04 23:35:16 UTC

It's a blending of natives and Spanish with a smattering of other groups in small numbers thrown in

2018-04-04 23:35:51 UTC

But yeah, I think the main reason there has not been a revolution by now is because people can flee into the US. If there is an out from a bad situation, people will take it; though, if someone is cornered and trapped, they will fight or submit, and under such circumstances people will only submit for so long.

2018-04-04 23:35:59 UTC

For example, there is (or at least was) a small group of blonde haired, blue eyed Mennonites living there

2018-04-04 23:36:26 UTC

I wasn't aware of the varied ethnicities in Mexico.

2018-04-04 23:36:32 UTC

We can all agreee with you there Jaden. The Mexicans need to stay in Mexico.

2018-04-04 23:37:30 UTC

I do know that the 'natives' of the land before the Spanish arrived still resided there in small numbers... I think the Aztecs? They were very distinct from the Mexicans because they were far shorter. You could tell them apart just by looking at them.

2018-04-04 23:37:39 UTC

I didn't know about the other ethnicities, though.

2018-04-04 23:37:57 UTC

Interesting.

2018-04-04 23:41:09 UTC

But yeah, I'm fully aware of the racial displacement going on in the SW right now. I grew up in it.

2018-04-04 23:41:47 UTC

I saw first-hand as neighborhoods turned into ghettos and garbage dumps.

2018-04-04 23:42:35 UTC

I know detractors will scream, "ANECDOTE!! ANECDOTE!! HISSS!!", but I just don't care. lol

2018-04-04 23:42:52 UTC

That doesn't mean it's not happening.

2018-04-04 23:43:40 UTC

I grew up in Chicago and saw the same sort of thing. neighborhoods went through cycles-nice neighborhoods turned bad and some bad neighborhood gentrified and turned around. Chicago might be the one off though. Detroit is the other extreme

2018-04-04 23:47:10 UTC

I specifically remember my father one day telling me that I'm not allowed to wear red or blue shirts anymore, because I might accidentally catch the attention of the opposite 'gang' and they might think I'm part of their enemy's tribe.

2018-04-04 23:47:16 UTC

Out of nowhere.

2018-04-04 23:48:29 UTC

It was an uncommon thing *not* to hear gunshots in the middle of the night where I grew up.

2018-04-04 23:49:12 UTC

Halsey is on purple dragon

2018-04-04 23:49:12 UTC

and

2018-04-04 23:49:25 UTC

Uh oh. lol

2018-04-04 23:49:27 UTC

it's now OK with ethno nationalism on some level

2018-04-04 23:49:36 UTC

it's really strange

2018-04-04 23:49:49 UTC

It's funny how that keeps happening.

2018-04-04 23:50:14 UTC

I never heard gunshots in the neighborhood I lived in but 2 miles west in the neighborhood that I went to school in there were alot of gangs and they were not shy in making their presence known

2018-04-04 23:50:31 UTC

I've listened to all sorts of folks argue it

2018-04-04 23:50:36 UTC

and I never buy into it

2018-04-04 23:50:56 UTC

Now both neighborhoods are in the upper income/upper real estate priced areas of Chicago

2018-04-04 23:50:58 UTC

Not sure why Halsey is willing to bend over to it

2018-04-04 23:51:14 UTC

Because there's nothing to 'buy into', it works.

2018-04-04 23:52:02 UTC

Just about every country on the planet before 1965 was an ethnostate, including the US, be it through function or active enforcement of it.

2018-04-04 23:52:49 UTC

Not the US really, heavy majority, sure; but it depends on where you bend the leaf as to who falls into what section

2018-04-04 23:53:14 UTC

i.e. hatred of the irish, scottish, krauts

2018-04-04 23:53:15 UTC

etc

2018-04-04 23:53:20 UTC

Before the immigration reform of 1965, the immigration policy specifically named white people. You can't really get more outright 'ethnostate' than that.
