its easier to abstract to looks because it doesn't matter if the person is Indian or mixed race white and black, they may both group together under both having similar tan skin.

2018-05-22 03:00:30 UTC

a highly nationalistic culture that is tolerent of other genetic groups not native to their region that adopts them as their own will have a better success rate with multiracial societys than cultures with very low or antinationalistic tedencys or cultures without tolerence

2018-05-22 03:01:39 UTC

i dont think many western countrys are very nationalistic while at the same time being very tolerent of non native genetic pools sharing the same culture as them

2018-05-22 03:02:28 UTC

i think thats not optumal for relations between people or maintaining cultural homogeny. or atleast value homogeny

2018-05-22 03:03:23 UTC

there is probably a difference that needs to be defined between cultural homogeny and cultural rigidity

2018-05-22 03:04:11 UTC

which i think some people confuse as the same thing

2018-05-22 03:06:52 UTC

probably, i like the idea of a geographic region staying culturally constistant eternally. just for my own personal reasons. i like the idea of being able to visit paris tomarrow or ten thousand years from now and have roughly the same experince. however realisticly as a social engineer i realize the impracticality of simply trying to maintain that so id just be happy if the values of geographic regions stay relitivly unchanged and if a region is going to adopt people from a genetic pool that is not geographicly native to it, that both maintain harmony while having consistant values

2018-05-22 03:08:10 UTC

i don't think you could keep the geographic region the same for ten thousand years, yet alone the culture

2018-05-22 03:08:11 UTC

lmao

2018-05-22 03:08:54 UTC

"Where is Paris?!"
"Under 3 miles of dirt by now"

2018-05-22 03:09:14 UTC

its the small bit of idealism i have, i just keep it tempered with being realistic. if people are willing to try power to them so long as they dont abuse other morales

2018-05-22 03:10:27 UTC

dirt doesent actually stack that fast in 10k years. there are things weve built that long ago sitting on the surface still. though the eternal aspect i mentioned would eventually have that problem

2018-05-22 03:11:53 UTC
2018-05-22 03:15:10 UTC

well, technically that was dirt in a specific area. which could stack that fast depending on everything that happens in that small area.

2018-05-22 03:15:17 UTC

generally, probably not

2018-05-22 03:16:27 UTC

but titanic volcanic eruptions, meteor strike, warfare, elon's boring machine, any combination of those might cause a localized pile

2018-05-22 03:20:03 UTC

lots of cows all in one area for a long time

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/05/21/21st-may-warhammer-adventures-tales-for-younger-readersgw-homepage-post-1/

how the fuck will this work??

you can't just take the quintessential dark/scifi/fantasy setting and then just turn it "kid friendly".

even if they nuke Slaanesh (which frankly breaks the Eldar) and retcon 90% of the Dark Eldar you still have mountains of gratuitous blood and gore. The goddamn poster boys of the setting, the Space Marines, literally use machine guns that fire self-propelled explosive ammunition, designed to burrow inside the target before exploding them from the inside-out. How the fuck do you make that kid friendly?

And that's not even going into the grayish morality of the setting itself, which would not really be possible to pull off while staying kid friendly, and in my opinion is one of the biggest strengths of the setting.

2018-05-22 20:27:09 UTC

they are taking a series in which literal space nazis are "the good guys" and it just gets worse from there, and making it a kids show?

2018-05-22 20:27:35 UTC

apparently.

inb4 Tau are the goodguys

2018-05-22 20:28:34 UTC

lets, what are the Tau equivalent to again? Space Commies?

2018-05-22 20:29:02 UTC

"join us peacefully.... or die"

2018-05-22 20:30:33 UTC

pretty much.

ruled by some guys called "Ethereals" which are likely mindcontrolling the populace.

plus the Tau frequently enact sterilization, conquer and enlave other races, all while maintaining the facade of a """greater good"""

2018-05-22 20:33:48 UTC

there is not a single "good" faction. which is the point. the only reason the Empire is good is because they are at least human.

2018-05-22 20:34:21 UTC

i mean, if they want to teach kids that life is all grey and there is no black and white, you can't get much better

2018-05-22 21:20:33 UTC

lol

2018-05-22 22:16:59 UTC

>ruled by some guys called "Ethereals" which are likely mindcontrolling the populace.

All but confirmed

2018-05-22 22:24:14 UTC

I dunno, the Farsight Enclaves seem like pretty fucking solid proof

2018-05-22 22:24:40 UTC

It's never straight up explicitly stated that yes, they use mind control.

2018-05-23 01:07:37 UTC

The Tau are supposed to be the utopian faction. In the idea that they accept humans who are willing to work towards the "greater good", and brainwash those who do not. Tau who disobey their plans for "the greater good" are also brainwashed. Even the populace is divided into castes (based on their genetics) and are only allowed to procreate when the elders tell them to.

2018-05-23 01:09:07 UTC

Also, I was sure the Imperium was a good faction, just happend that the guy responsible is now some skeleton on a throne everyone worships.

2018-05-23 01:09:48 UTC

Now what you got is some zealots following some bastardization of the message this guy wanted.

2018-05-23 01:11:32 UTC

The Emperor did some pretty immoral stuff. I couldn't really call him a "good guy", just someone who staunchly believed the ends justified the means. And, unfortunately, he was unable to reach those ends, partly due to his own negligence.

2018-05-23 01:11:54 UTC

Pretty much, in a world of trillions, the lives of billions become insignificant.

2018-05-23 01:12:07 UTC

Killing psycers and outlawing all relligion except the state mandated one.

2018-05-23 01:12:59 UTC

Reason being that only the state mandated one was the only one they were really sure or that it would not summon interdimensional demons by accident.
