@RyeNorth so the drone is here and it seems like pretty cheap plastic. Noticed some scratches on the propellers and asked my dad if it hit into anything. Apparently the first thing he did when he got it was try flying it indoors lol.

@CreativeRealms The core of the drone is also unmistakably shaped like a potato.

2018-06-21 02:10:53 UTC

Almost suspiciously so.

2018-06-21 02:11:09 UTC

Almost as if it were a flying potato.

2018-06-21 02:11:22 UTC

Almost as if the entire thing is a potato.

2018-06-21 02:11:36 UTC

A four bladed potato.

2018-06-21 02:11:45 UTC

in soviet Alaska, potato slice you.

2018-06-21 02:12:03 UTC

Could be called spudnik.

2018-06-21 02:12:27 UTC

also, flying a drone indoors is the first instinct from alot of people

2018-06-21 02:12:59 UTC

Crashing a drone within 5 minutes of getting one is a common occurance

2018-06-21 02:13:05 UTC

I think when you push the takeoff button it instantly goes five feet into the air.

2018-06-21 02:13:13 UTC

eugh.

2018-06-21 02:13:17 UTC

I have yet to use it though.

2018-06-21 02:13:21 UTC

See, I almost never use an automatic takeoff.

2018-06-21 02:13:28 UTC

I like to be in full control

2018-06-21 02:13:42 UTC

See, I own two guns, and two drones.

2018-06-21 02:13:52 UTC

I'm actually more afraid I might hurt someone with my drone than my gun.

2018-06-21 02:14:12 UTC

Entirely possible. Guns are more predictable.

2018-06-21 02:14:14 UTC

People buy them as toys, but most toys usually can't slice digits off if you hold them incorrectly.

2018-06-21 02:14:46 UTC

My Mavic had a problem with it's arm once

2018-06-21 02:14:55 UTC

The limiter broke

2018-06-21 02:14:56 UTC

This drone has a setting that you can hold it in your hand and have it take off from there. Seems very stupid to do.

2018-06-21 02:15:01 UTC

the propeller made contact with the drone chasis

2018-06-21 02:15:09 UTC

It cut through with the same effect as a saw.

2018-06-21 02:15:25 UTC

I hand-launch all the time.

2018-06-21 02:15:30 UTC

I even hand-catch.

2018-06-21 02:15:48 UTC

Figured it wasn’t that safe.

2018-06-21 02:15:50 UTC

But you have to be ready to do it, and aware of the potential problems

2018-06-21 02:16:02 UTC

There's technique

2018-06-21 02:16:21 UTC

and you have to be able to do it without flinching.

2018-06-21 02:17:17 UTC

Maybe I’ll turn that setting on again after my first few flights.

2018-06-21 02:17:56 UTC

Really only got as far as taking it apart/putting it together, charging all the stuff, and doing software updates.
