once you're exercising consistently, you should consume about 0.6 grams of protein for every pound of bodyweight
0.8 or more if you want to really grow some muscle
also if you're fat you *have* to do cardio and watch your calories
the general recommendation is resistance training MWF, cardio TRS
for beginners jogging or bicycling is great cardio
once you're in okay-ish shape you should look into getting a jump rope
