Assuming that you're white, that would be the determining factor as to why you never had trouble with the police.
That's part of the thing
you recognize the risk factors that lead to crime
that's quite evident in your argument
the determening factor would be that i never did anything illegal
but the ones arguing white privilege don't recognize the risk factors that lead to high crime
The root of their argument is white patriarchy, generally.
even if you go down to an actual root, they implant that reason one layer below.
there is no layer below not doing anything illegal to not get into trouble with the police
It's the argument for god but with white privilege.
Also, did you absolutely never do anything that was ever illegal, or did you just never do anything illegal and get caught?
I can admit that I've done things in my past that I could've gotten in serious trouble for, but didn't.
i stole lego when i was like... 7?
And the reason I didn't get in trouble wasn't because I was white
trespassing on military property (with the boyscouts...)
other than that... i don't remember ever doing anything illegal, no.
The reason was because the police in my area are accustomed to low crime
Teenage years, let me tell you...
heck... i managed to not do anything illegal while wearing all black at a protest...
You marched black bloc once?
Clearly you're here. 😛
i did not cover my face and marching is too... well... i was at a protest with black bloc and was wearing all black...
I was actually involved in an early Black Lives Matter march.
before or after they turned full on racist?
I was coming home from a comic book shop I hung out at sometimes, and there was a march going down the street
Mmmmm
They were founded in racism.
in my opinion, it was always there
it just became more well documented with time
yeah... might be...
I joined the march, thinking the goals were to march against police immunity
Which I do think is a problem in the US - It's very difficult to give a police officer a fair trial by jury, even if their actions are heinous
and police departments shouldn't be able to investigate themselves.
police -immunity- would be a problem, yes
and yes, investigation one self is... absurd...
Well, I mean, think about it, a community at large is expected to be able to trust a police officer to make the correct decision
to vote to convict a police officer, you have to de-elevate the police force to do so.
There's also the fact that actions in the line of duty may not be -criminal-, but may be irresponsible
i trust the police to act in... fuck... how to say it in inglish... in good faith...? but i only have to deal with german police so... yeah...
Ahh, well, I'm talking about American problems, largely.
