that could work out

2018-05-26 03:00:20 UTC

he might ignore it since he's already said he doesn't want to deal with that situation anymore, him responding to vice any more than he has will just get other media outlets defending the indefensible

2018-05-26 03:01:08 UTC

idk, i think this is so bad suing them might actually be viable

2018-05-26 03:02:06 UTC

chances are they're already re-writing it and will silently update the article and say nothing... standard trad media

2018-05-26 03:03:32 UTC

somebody needs to finish a suit so we can have a order that all retractions have to be publicly announced

2018-05-26 03:04:03 UTC

im not sure that will actually protect them. theoreticly it can because once it gets to the matter of redactions its a gray area of the law that only has case points to stand on, a judge could easly weigh that redaction doesent actually reverse the damage that slander does in some contexts

2018-05-26 03:05:02 UTC

i don't even bother reading these things, not worth the annoyance.... there already is stuff like newsdiffs that people use because they've lost all trust

2018-05-26 03:05:46 UTC

law is the law though

2018-05-26 03:07:44 UTC

yeah but the gawker thing didn't make the ones leftover more cautious

2018-05-26 03:07:53 UTC

ive heard rumors about the posibility of someone trying to sue a youtuber for slander

2018-05-26 03:08:07 UTC

or defamation

2018-05-26 03:09:52 UTC

if anything actually comes of it ill probably add it here.

2018-05-26 04:24:35 UTC

Unrelated: I don't blame Trump for backing down on summit

2018-05-26 04:28:38 UTC

yeah i kinda changed my mind when i heard more about it

2018-05-26 04:32:33 UTC

Like, it's really difficult to just point fingers. International politics has a lot of nuance

2018-05-26 07:25:34 UTC

Why exactly did happen? The letter stated the behaviour of the foregn official of north korea, but I can't find anymore news about it

2018-05-26 08:47:18 UTC

Short summary from the news i know about that:
- NK and SK were to have a summit, NK and US were to have a summit
- SK and US did some joint military training, NK was put off by that and insulted
- NK cancelled summit with SK, NK said they were considering cancelling with US
- US cancels summit beforehand with letter, but is still open to renegotiating a new summit

2018-05-26 08:49:02 UTC

end result, US shows NK and world they are in this out of kindness, and don't really care much for NK's aggression, but are still willing to continue to play nice. So its up to NK now to either suffer, or grovel back. US can't fall into a doormat position anymore in negotiations with NK

2018-05-26 08:49:43 UTC

You missed that 12h after Trumps letter NK said they still want the meeting.

2018-05-26 08:50:06 UTC

indeed i did miss that, i didn't know newer news already happened

2018-05-26 08:50:10 UTC

good to hear

2018-05-26 08:54:06 UTC

yea, I dont know why it took so long to do that, NK is nothing to fear

2018-05-26 08:55:59 UTC

maybe happened sooner but they announced it later

2018-05-26 08:56:25 UTC

I mean as in the west has been fearing NK for so long

2018-05-26 08:56:56 UTC

and now when NK has to back down they do

2018-05-26 08:58:23 UTC

the US just had to poke them a bit, it could have been done years ago

2018-05-26 09:05:50 UTC

welcome to the art of not being a cuck-statesmen,

Most current western leaders are these ivory towered idiots who go to other leaders, shake hands, drink wine and eat caviar, and basically discuss matters with the goal of doing whats best for the "OTHER" country.

Any leader outside Europe and the US spits on such negotiations because they want whats best for themselves, aka, negotiating like a business
Trump does like that to, so he slaps NK around if it misbehaves, instead of idle threats and practically begging them to behave

2018-05-26 09:08:21 UTC

and i speak of experience,
My countries (Netherlands) Premier, in 2015 went to Turkey in name of the European Union, to negotiate that turkey would block the wave of immigrants from Syria etc,

Him and Erdogan ended up settling that the EU would pay Turkey 3 Billion euros so they'd stop the migrants from crossing into Greece,
Erdogan got the money and did absolutely nothing,

Then the same premier went back in 2016 to re-negotiate, and settled for ANOTHER 3 billion euros, and THEN Erdogan finally did something

2018-05-26 09:08:46 UTC

lolol

2018-05-26 09:09:24 UTC

and later on he said he was considering to re-open the borders if the EU didn't allow for easier VISA processes with Turkish people

2018-05-26 09:09:54 UTC

and this dutch tool actually got re-elected!

2018-05-26 09:10:39 UTC

Im leaving Europe as soon as I can

2018-05-26 09:11:23 UTC

Im saving money to move to Merica

2018-05-26 09:12:38 UTC

hopefully the west of europe will flip right-wing like the east did, and we can turn about this crisis

2018-05-26 09:13:00 UTC

Dont bank on it

2018-05-26 09:13:05 UTC

I have dual citizenship so if one place gets fucked I can move.

2018-05-26 09:29:45 UTC

I think the riskiest part of the NK situation is if it does get to war, it'll be a slaughter and a bunch of soft countries that would be stuffed if the US wasn't protecting them will go oh shame on the US.... my own country (Australia) being one of those soft places who will go oh you should have just given in and paid them to stop being batshit insane

2018-05-26 09:33:25 UTC

sadly it's just delaying the inevitable

2018-05-26 10:11:07 UTC

yeah its essentially what the world has done for 20 years, in the 90's they were claiming to be close to having nukes

2018-05-26 10:15:21 UTC

what u mean slaughter

2018-05-26 10:16:06 UTC

Oh nvm
