We discussed the issue as to why there is not and probably won't be a good free YouTube alternative. At least without some noticable limitations. The biggest issue is being free/low cost while needing to pay for storage and bandwidth.

Just the number of videos YouTube has that have been there for years with low view counts.

It wouldn't surprise me if part of the reason they don't care about creators is that deleting channels gives them a chance to free up space form their older videos that get little traffic. Also hoping all the bs will get most people to leave, allowing them to cut costs while keeping some of the more trafficed channels that net them most of the viewer traffic

You can pay for more space, or earn it through getting enough views or something

I am hoping a decentralized solution like Bitchute will gain traction, but of course the problem with any alternative is that it will attract those wronged by the existing platforms as its first users, and those people tend to fall so outside the norm that it turns users away from it

While I’m sure none of us here care that the front page has conspiracy videos and shit, those who unironically watch Logan Paul and makeup channels won’t get content, and sadly that is actually what makes up a lot of YouTube viewership

And no commercial usage because of it either
