even if the goal is rehabilitation rather than punishment, that takes time.. it just seems better to reduce a sentence for good behavior instead of default to a short sentence

@Timcast wrt people pretending to be disabled in order to enjoy benefits: This literally happens in california. I forget the specifics, but, basically, if you _identify as_ disabled, then any pet you own is by definition a support animal, and that animal is entitled to legal protections as a result

so for example I could say "I identify as diabled because I'm depressd" and then my employer is legally required to let me bring my cat to the office

this is why in california everyone just takes their dogs into the grocery stores and restuarants and stuff

To be fair, if I had to deal with the burning hellscape of California summers, the nanny state garbage and the high cost of living, not to mention the oppressive smug, I'd probably have no trouble getting diagnosed as depressed :^)
