neither. if you are gay and from a muslim country you could argue that you are targeted because of your sexuality and try to get asylum because of that. if you are from a country that treats muslims the same way muslims treat gay people you could claim that you are targeted because of your religion. both are valid claims to get asylum.

the country you are trying to get asylum in has the right to verify your claims though.

The judge ruled against it, and used the public hearing to disclose that he had personally been threatened and was being guarded by US Marshals.

He also said he thinks jurors would be threatened in the same way, basically using the hearing to make the press look like a bunch of jackasses for even asking.

Of course if you read left wing twitter they are convinced Manafort has goons who are threatening the judge in an attempt to get a mistrial.

There's really no valid reason for disclosing juror's identities period, let alone even before a verdict has been reached. It's just screaming for jurors to be pressured and tainted. But asking does two things for the left-wing media: asking and being denied makes them look good to their audience and paints the trial as corrupted, and there's even the small chance the judge would release info.

If you're part of the IMBEACH DRUMPF tribe then the media banding together to ask for this information looks like they're sticking it to the corrupt republican judge and revealing abuse of power. I mean, freedom of the press right? What are you hiding by not giving us this information?!?

And if the judge says he's being threatened and wants to protect jurors from the same fate then he's lying. Or Manafort's thugs must be threatening him.

Anyhow, even though the judge rightfully denied the motion and made everyone involved look like asshats I expect that the information will be leaked before long.

That way they can get a mistrial and a do-over, and drag out the Mueller probe for another 6 months or so.
