You pick out the ballots you want from a stand that everyone can see. You pick three ballots. National, regional and local. On each ballot there is a list of people where you can check one box for an individual that you really want seated if the party doesn't get enough votes to seat all people. If you don't have a ballot for the party you are voting for there are blank ballots where you can write down the name of the party you want.

2018-09-10 22:04:02 UTC

You put each ballot into a letter that has a hole in it so you can see which type of vote you are making. Three closed letters with holes with three different colors. Those are placed in a bigger envelope. You bring those to a table where you verify your identity and then they check you off a list and place your envelope in a box with a hole in it.

Sweden has gotten international critique because of how easy it is to see who you are going to vote for.

2018-09-10 22:07:50 UTC

Yeah that's a really screwed up system. Way too easy to shame and intimidate voters.

2018-09-10 22:11:01 UTC

What's generally being claimed here is that ballots were not on the stand meaning that you had to write on a blank ballot where you need to remember who you want to individually support. If you don't choose a person then anyone in the party could get the seat. Then the claim is that ballots for one party got counted as another or where wrongly claimed as being invalid. Like mispelling the party name enough so that the counter "cannot tell" which party it's meant for...

2018-09-10 22:12:32 UTC

We had a record amount of "invalid" ballots this year. However that could be due to people being pissed at the politicians and writing shit like "Donald Duck" on the ballot.

2018-09-10 22:13:40 UTC

We also had "family voting" where immigrant families or communities would be handed ballots by their family/klan-leader and then be observed by that leader while they walk behind the screen and place their ballots in the letter.

2018-09-10 22:13:59 UTC

In Rinkeby (Immigrant heavy area) 77% voted for the social democrats.

2018-09-10 22:15:11 UTC

(correction: The family/klan-leader stands on the other side of the screen but observes them walking there with the ballots he handed them)

I thought Sweden was the Hallmark of democracy not Russia-lite voting scheme.

2018-09-10 22:49:06 UTC

It was the same last election.

2018-09-10 22:49:54 UTC

The diiference isn´t very huge. Last election they let the social democrats lead the country by alligning with the right wing parties to form an kind of like cartell.

2018-09-10 22:51:13 UTC

So they decided: F*#k 13 percemt of the voters and just let through the social democrats instead of taking the power as an Right wing alliance, but with support from SD.

2018-09-10 22:52:35 UTC

But the question is: can they really do that again this year? Especially now when there is an almost 50-50 tie. Foreign votes haven´t been counted yet. (Swedes living outside of Sweden that send their votes by mail), and they calculated that there most likely will be a 50-50 tie.

2018-09-10 23:55:30 UTC

Jesus Sweden's election is going crazy, I think anonomly knew it was getting worse and left lmao

2018-09-10 23:56:13 UTC

What's going on in Sweden exactly?

2018-09-10 23:56:28 UTC

rapes

2018-09-11 00:00:52 UTC

but what else is new in europe amirite

2018-09-11 00:33:42 UTC

some voting fraud it looks like. or potential fraud or at least tampering

2018-09-11 00:39:19 UTC

Left loses in an election

2018-09-11 00:39:40 UTC

Accusations of vote tampering and fraud follow shortly after

2018-09-11 00:54:56 UTC

Everyone *always* alleges vote tampering.

2018-09-11 00:55:25 UTC

The question is which one has voter registration in excess of 100% in some place.

2018-09-11 01:01:23 UTC

Red state obviously leans right, but the story is so silly as to be unbelievable, but I've heard this multiple places and believe it is true.

2018-09-11 01:42:36 UTC

I'm obviously biased but I wouldn't put anything past the democrats. The ends justify the means in their mind. For the low-level footsoldiers the ends is some nebulous utopia and for the higher-ups it's naked power. In either case a little voter fraud is a small price to pay.

2018-09-11 02:47:31 UTC

Digging a bit deeper, it's not just blue-leaning districts (though the article source might give you that impression). Still was a famous tendency of machine politics to have all sorts of screwy voter numbers.

2018-09-11 08:25:59 UTC

A bit late, but here are the election results (final counting is still ongoing)

144- Red-Greens
28, **Vänsterpartiet - socialism, environmentalism, feminism, eurosceptic**
101, *Socialdemokraterna - social democracy, feminism*
15, **Miljöpartiet - environmentalism, green, feminism**

142- the Alliance
30, *Centerpartiet - social liberalism, green, liberal feminism*
19, **Liberalerna - social liberalism, liberal feminism**
70, *Moderaterna - liberal conservatism*
23, **Kristdemokraterna - social conservatism**
____
63, *Sverigedemokraterna - national* & *social conservatism,* *nationalism,* eurosceptic _

2018-09-11 08:27:34 UTC

Hmm

2018-09-11 08:28:43 UTC

So what exactly is it that's so extraordinary about this election? Is it not normally so close, or are new parties gaining more steam, or what?

2018-09-11 08:30:57 UTC

One thing is that it's very close, yeah - and there's a party no one wants to work with inbetween that has become very large.

2018-09-11 08:32:36 UTC

After the last election the two alliances decided to make a deal to avoid working with the Sweden democrats, letting the Green party & the Social democrats sit in government.

2018-09-11 08:33:25 UTC

Now the Alliance parties want the Prime Minister to resign and would refuse to cooperate with him in government. He and his party, however, wants to stay.

2018-09-11 08:34:12 UTC

The Sweden democrats are still open to work with just about anybody, left or right.

2018-09-11 08:34:50 UTC

Thank you.

2018-09-11 08:35:53 UTC

The Greens were almost kicked out of the parliament aswell - you need atleast 4% of the votes and they received 4,3%.

“ Realizing you’re a pedophile can make you want to kill yourself” by Paul Willis on Vice

In an attempt to normalize pedophilia Vice quotes a professor calling it a “ sexual preference “. Then they attempt to demonize those that stigmatize pedophiles by blaming them for pushing these degenerates into depression .

I do have some sympathy for them. The ones that don't do anything about it that is. Whether or not it is a sexual preference doesn't really matter. Most serial killers are born broken and that is excepted, we don't feel sorry for them, we lock them in a cage until they die. It's the same thing in my eyes.
