Peaceful pursuit of happiness is not a valid reason to let them into the US. There is no law saying "you must let unhappy people in". Not wanting my tax dollars to go to law-breaking non-citizens is not illogical or emotional. It is rational.

1. Space within a nation is not infinite
2. Resources and jobs within a nation are not infinite
3. Government programs exist as the result of a state
All of these things should be made available for legal citizens. The point of border control is to manage the flow of new people in the country. If you want to join a country, you must do it through legal channels- that way the systems within that country can account for you
