Honestly, the adpocalypse was one of the big catalysts that showed the whiniest of the NPCs that if they whine hard enough, big businesses will bend over and ask to get fucked over harder.
If an ad you dislike showed up next to any TV show that didn't 100% agree to their values, or beside a competitor's ad, or anything of that sort. No one would give a shit, everyone would shrug.
Adpocalypse changed that for Youtube. Now suddenly your ad appearing there made the bitchiest whiners start to virtuesignal at the companies, pissing themselves as they cried, "BUT THIS MEANS YOU SUPPORT IT!"
The companies, being fucking idiots, said "oh shit, some little spaz shitting himself in our lobby is crying about it, we better fix this so we can get rid of him, FAST!"
So ads were pulled and youtube was given an ultimatum that no other medium had ever been forced to take.
Youtube got most of their advertisers back in no time at all, of course, but realized "oh wow, if we just claim the Adpocalypse is still happening, we can keep that money, and use it to discourage people we hate."
New rules were added, youtube ad money was dropped through the floor for most creators, if not outright turned off for many. And creators they casually disagree with were demonetized probably 90% of the time or better from then on.
The overwhelming success of it helped lead the charge for the mentally damaged to start huge snowflake storms, storming companies that did any minor thing they disliked and smearing feces all over their walls until the companies started obeying the whims of these mentally defunct rejects of society, just to get the fuck rid of them.
That success made the NPC programmers of Silicon Valley realize how effective this was and eventually lead us out of the more subtle shadowbanning and more subtle ways of trying to get rid of who they hate, to the open banning of anyone they want, including Alex Jones and Gab.com now, but that list is going to continue to grow.
