there is not even a way i can rewrite that would read she was fined for losing. Unless it straight up read "She was fined 17,000 in violations for us open loss"

2018-09-11 11:09:56 UTC

the "during" is what really makes the difference because it means the fines happened before it was a loss, therefore cannot be because she lost.

2018-09-11 15:49:23 UTC

i mean her first violation (the coaching) did not lea dto ther loss

2018-09-11 15:49:39 UTC

her smashing her racket did

2018-09-11 15:49:50 UTC

and the bithcin out hte ref was teh cherry on the cake

2018-09-11 15:54:49 UTC

either way, the fines where not because she lost and the title doesn't make it sound like that.

2018-09-11 15:58:47 UTC

yeah she just lost as a consequence of them. well breakign the racket specifically

2018-09-11 15:59:12 UTC

i mean its well known u get fined for those offences but yeah exactly it should be more clear

2018-09-11 17:40:48 UTC

She most likely did those things because she was already losing badly. Same as when she threatened to force a ball down that line judge's throat 10 years ago. She was losing and got a minor penalty, so she threw a tantrum.

2018-09-11 18:09:33 UTC

yeah bringing sexism into it jsut makes her look bad. lol had to fact check the CBC radios reporting on it for my mom cuz they left out a few important details like that her coach admitted to it to stop my mom from yelling at the radio XD

She never was fined for winning but let’s be honest. If you’re fined $17,000 USD after winning $1,800,000
I don’t think you’d care

2018-09-11 22:41:49 UTC

For not winning *

2018-09-11 22:56:48 UTC

*sigh* A friend of mine just unironically made the Jet Fuel Doesn't Melt Steel Beams argument...

2018-09-11 22:59:28 UTC

Jet fuel does not in fact melt steel beams

2018-09-11 23:00:11 UTC

But it does make it very soft and malleable

2018-09-11 23:00:58 UTC

mmhmm

2018-09-11 23:01:47 UTC

Would you look at that?

2018-09-11 23:03:42 UTC

Yeah jet fuel just made them weak. It didn’t melt them 🤷‍♂️

2018-09-11 23:03:46 UTC

Is this Reaaaaally gonna happen

2018-09-11 23:03:52 UTC

Hahahaha

2018-09-11 23:03:54 UTC

of course it would

2018-09-11 23:04:03 UTC

That's the point.

2018-09-11 23:04:12 UTC

todays the "best" day for it

2018-09-11 23:05:19 UTC

It all depends on your definition of “melt”

2018-09-11 23:05:33 UTC

No, it doesn't.

2018-09-11 23:05:43 UTC

It depends on the implication.

2018-09-11 23:06:00 UTC

The implication is that steel behaves like Ice.

2018-09-11 23:06:11 UTC

that it's rigid and firm until it melts.

2018-09-11 23:06:12 UTC

"But it does make it very soft and malleable" pretty sure this is what typically occurs

2018-09-11 23:06:18 UTC

Yup.

2018-09-11 23:06:21 UTC

Basic metallurgy.

2018-09-11 23:06:39 UTC

You don't have to melt the steel to fold it.

2018-09-11 23:06:44 UTC

in fact

2018-09-11 23:06:45 UTC

Yeah so does it turn to liquid or is melt just making it soft

2018-09-11 23:06:51 UTC

if you DID melt the steel, it'd defeat the purpose.

2018-09-11 23:07:00 UTC

it bent

2018-09-11 23:07:05 UTC

didnt melt

2018-09-11 23:07:06 UTC

Because it definitely melted if the definition is making it soft

2018-09-11 23:07:25 UTC

And then it buckled under the weight of the top stories

2018-09-11 23:07:30 UTC

melting would imply it became a liquid
