sad shit really

2018-12-24 20:37:28 UTC

I'm kinda glad that we had to make do with market solutions because our governments couldn't come up with even bad solutions

2018-12-24 20:37:49 UTC

Swiss have free college, but only for what the state says you can handle based on grades and if you fail you have to pay the state back

2018-12-24 20:37:57 UTC

nice

2018-12-24 20:38:16 UTC

Swiss seems to have figured many things out

2018-12-24 20:38:47 UTC

but their solutions might not necessarily scale

2018-12-24 20:40:18 UTC

Here is your free college options* (based on grades and Department of Labor needed jobs projections)

2018-12-24 20:45:02 UTC

I still think that govt paid education is exactly the wrong way to deal with college debt

2018-12-24 20:45:31 UTC

increase in administrators and other kind of fat is what is increasing tuition fees

2018-12-24 20:45:39 UTC

if govt swoops in and pays for it

2018-12-24 20:45:45 UTC

there's no incentive to curb that

2018-12-24 20:45:50 UTC

inefficiency

2018-12-24 20:46:55 UTC

similar case for healthcare

2018-12-24 20:47:32 UTC

no incentive to cut down on waste and thereby cost by competing for customers directly

2018-12-24 20:47:37 UTC

if govt pays for it all

2018-12-24 20:54:23 UTC

There are a few studies out where they found the cheepest sector of health care was elective plastic surgery. Because it is a "Vanity" and not covered by Insurance that area has been working to reduce prices and increase market viability as opposed to HMO health care

2018-12-24 21:32:45 UTC

Any ideas what could help curb the fat cost of american health services? Last i heard about 60% of the cost of medical goes to payn lawsuits and administration

2018-12-24 21:48:04 UTC

That has been so hotly debated...

2018-12-24 22:05:40 UTC

There needs to be less liability for failed operations

2018-12-24 22:05:55 UTC

Kick doctors out that fail

2018-12-24 22:06:01 UTC

Americans can lose weight

2018-12-24 22:06:13 UTC

But don't offload the cost of failure on people who needhelp

2018-12-24 22:07:28 UTC

Well lets be honest, do you want the Minority Representation doctor to do your life saving surgery or the best doctor in (County, State/provice, Country)?

2018-12-24 22:08:25 UTC

The medschool acceptance rates for minorites are insane

2018-12-24 22:08:33 UTC

(except asians, they dont count)

2018-12-24 22:08:39 UTC

Alternatively have it go on a record then allow people or their loved ones choose their doctors

2018-12-24 22:10:45 UTC

Look I don't care what demographics the doctor checks off in the census, if my loved on is dying i want them to be the best.

2018-12-24 22:14:49 UTC

True, affirmative action is a cancer at this point

2018-12-24 22:15:12 UTC

I like how my phone tried to auto fill "affirmative action is great"

2018-12-24 22:15:22 UTC

Oh google

2018-12-24 22:15:29 UTC

You and your agendas

2018-12-24 22:18:59 UTC

I've seen similar attitudes in the US regarding physicians and pharmacists

2018-12-24 22:22:30 UTC

How is this much different than the rigging of results against asians in the US?

2018-12-24 22:23:38 UTC

It's not. That's my point. Artificially choosing winners on criteria having nothing to do with ability is not unique to the US.

2018-12-24 22:24:31 UTC

It had a purpose when we were creating a level playing field, I suppose. But the playing field is leveling out. I need to make sure anyone can win based on objective criteria and then get our thumbs off the scale.

2018-12-24 22:25:46 UTC

One of the best explinations of what is wrong with the US comes from Charles Barkley of all people.
