It'll work there, not in a country like America

2018-07-12 02:10:27 UTC

We were talking about medicaid for the disabled

2018-07-12 02:10:37 UTC

That's not the point, shiv.

2018-07-12 02:10:49 UTC

I was saying it's easy to make an exception for a small group and produce a solution for a small number that works well

2018-07-12 02:10:53 UTC

The point is they were forbidden to seek external care

2018-07-12 02:11:00 UTC

So long as the larger system makes sense and is running smoothly

2018-07-12 02:11:00 UTC

and forbidden to take their child somewhere

2018-07-12 02:11:04 UTC

Where is the infringement on Health Care, as a Human Right, actually occuring?

2018-07-12 02:11:34 UTC

Oooh you were talking about that dying kid

2018-07-12 02:11:35 UTC

I view things pretty much the same way as Thomas Paine did, but not quite as far as he went in Agrarian Justice

2018-07-12 02:11:37 UTC

sorry

2018-07-12 02:11:42 UTC

I didn't scroll up

2018-07-12 02:11:48 UTC

It's fine.

2018-07-12 02:12:04 UTC

I'm just reclaiming the Human Right argument for socialized healthcare.

2018-07-12 02:12:14 UTC

Also socialized healthcare hasn't been working in the UK, and it's not really working in Canada either

2018-07-12 02:12:31 UTC

Often the systems people point to next are two tier

2018-07-12 02:12:44 UTC

Australia and Germany for instance

2018-07-12 02:12:46 UTC

State funded healthcare should be an OPTION but not the ONLY one

2018-07-12 02:12:52 UTC

i agree

2018-07-12 02:12:56 UTC

if the state can afford it

2018-07-12 02:12:58 UTC

Private should still be availible

2018-07-12 02:13:04 UTC

but it should be a state thing

2018-07-12 02:13:07 UTC

not a federal thing

2018-07-12 02:13:09 UTC

I'd say that state funded healthcare should be a safety net.

2018-07-12 02:13:12 UTC

Not an option.

2018-07-12 02:13:14 UTC

I think it should be a limited option so long as there isn't a better market alternative

2018-07-12 02:13:15 UTC

then the individual can choose the service

2018-07-12 02:13:41 UTC

I'd say the US should stop subsidizing Europe's health care by stationing soldiers that allow them to go lax on military

2018-07-12 02:13:43 UTC

yea the State things sounds like an interesting idea

2018-07-12 02:13:45 UTC

If the market produces a cheaper, better option, then government resources are best used elsewhere

2018-07-12 02:14:27 UTC

More importantly, if Socialized Healthcare were to become a thing, it should only ever happen on a state level.

2018-07-12 02:14:36 UTC

States should be able to opt in or opt out, as far as the US goes.

2018-07-12 02:14:45 UTC

And NOT have to pay for their neighboring state's failing system.

2018-07-12 02:14:56 UTC

Inb4 common core: healthcare ed.

2018-07-12 02:15:18 UTC

private insurers would IDEALY make sure to provide better services than the State's which would mean more customers for them

2018-07-12 02:15:29 UTC

heh, it also wouldn't be hard.

2018-07-12 02:15:34 UTC

I don't like the resentment and incentive to stagnate that comes from selective welfare

2018-07-12 02:16:02 UTC

Welfare should be survivable but not comfortable.

2018-07-12 02:16:08 UTC

I keep thinking Tim's going to bust out a rap song to promote his merch. 😛

2018-07-12 02:16:25 UTC

Tim should totally do that.

2018-07-12 02:16:35 UTC

I think if the states provide it then it should encourage private services to do even better to get customers
