imaging if he moved to another platform

2018-07-16 16:55:14 UTC

and brought all those fans with him

2018-07-16 16:55:16 UTC

he is biggest but he's not equivalently dominant

2018-07-16 16:55:38 UTC

look at the promoted stuff on youtube, the stuff normies watch

2018-07-16 16:55:50 UTC

you mean fortnight

2018-07-16 16:55:51 UTC

jimmy kimmel clips etc, all with millions of views

2018-07-16 16:55:56 UTC

yup

2018-07-16 16:56:07 UTC

basically regurgitated content

2018-07-16 16:56:10 UTC

I think if Pews bolts, the rest of the "gaming" community on youtube jumps too

2018-07-16 16:56:12 UTC

nothing original

2018-07-16 16:56:40 UTC

there will not be another video platform. within the next 5 years at least that will Rival yt

2018-07-16 16:56:48 UTC

and with it the mass of influenced 10-30 year olds

2018-07-16 16:57:04 UTC

first no one is really working on one and two it's a money losing proposition

2018-07-16 16:57:22 UTC

no one wants to pay for content and its freaking expensive

2018-07-16 16:57:38 UTC

on the scale that yt does it

2018-07-16 16:58:07 UTC

we all know youtube promotes stuff that doesn't necessarily get the best views. i mean, look at pewds videos. all getting between 3 and 4 million views. within the first day or so. meanwhile kimmel gets a like 100k after weeks.

2018-07-16 16:58:26 UTC

it's going to take a while for the costs to come down to a level and mindshare is at a place where a competitor can come into play

2018-07-16 17:00:25 UTC

i just looked at Fallon, Kimmel, and Colbert. You need to combine all 3 of their most viewed videos after a couple of weeks, to equal 1 pewd video after less than 24 hours

2018-07-16 17:02:18 UTC

pewdiepie is the 6th most viewed channel. only after things like WWE (how they are on youtube still, god knows) Ryan ToysReview, and SET India.

2018-07-16 17:02:37 UTC

lol i went on the trending page and i have no idea who any of nearly these people are

2018-07-16 17:03:05 UTC

or it's sponsored content, doctor who, fox sports etc

2018-07-16 17:03:20 UTC

youtube is trying to destroy itself

2018-07-16 17:04:07 UTC

but my point is, in influx of that many people to a youtube alternative, and if that alternative has found a way to be profitable, youtube will die quickly.

2018-07-16 17:04:19 UTC

now, profitable is the hard part

2018-07-16 17:07:40 UTC

youtube is trying to become a TV replacement

2018-07-16 17:07:44 UTC

wrong strategy imo

2018-07-16 17:10:31 UTC

they want muneyz, tv companies pay them for it

2018-07-16 17:24:41 UTC

I heard someone say that there are a bunch of companies just waiting for YT to fail, and when that happens there will be many platforms similar to YT

2018-07-16 17:25:00 UTC

For example Pornhub is making something called the hub

2018-07-16 17:27:32 UTC

When trump's intelligence agency claims he colluded with russia, then dems aaky why trump trust putin more than his intelligence

2018-07-16 17:29:09 UTC

More a testament of how little Trump trusts intelligence agency vs how much he trusts Putin

2018-07-16 17:38:52 UTC

, @ExceptionalFeather IGTV is coming up

2018-07-16 17:39:03 UTC

It'll be serious competition

2018-07-16 17:39:26 UTC

eh

2018-07-16 17:39:43 UTC

not sure Facebook will do much of a better job than yt

2018-07-16 17:40:19 UTC

but to be fair it is more that instagram division is running it like YT runs itself though still owned by a parent company

2018-07-16 17:43:20 UTC

Certainly competition existing alone makes a huge difference though.

2018-07-16 17:44:40 UTC

I imagine part of why new platforms haven't had the chance to come in yet, because when they do and YT loses some customers, they will straightenn themselves out and bring most of those people back

2018-07-16 18:21:03 UTC

TV is dead. One to many is dead, many to many is future.

2018-07-16 18:21:25 UTC

TV on TV is dead,

TV online is muchos alive-o

2018-07-16 18:24:37 UTC

Other than sports, very few things need to be "broadcast"
