Nah. There's some exceptions. Euro Muslims in Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo are secular and not a problem. Kazakhs are fine too. Certain sects like the Ismaili tend to be more secular. But yeah, the majority of the world's Muslims are annoying.

Indeed. That's what happens in most Muslim-majority nations, especially the Sunni ones. The direction of travel is always towards ever greater Islamization. So the individuals (atheists, secularists, etc.) wanting to resist that are swimming against the tide.

@Deleted User Yeah, that's something I've noticed too. If you look at prominent ex-Muslim atheist activists in North America, they're often of Shia background. I'm thinking of Ali Rizvi or Sarah Haider.
I think Shia Islam is possibly a less austere interpretation than Sunni Islam. The word "Sunni" means follower of the way of Muhammad. So Sunni Muslims are obsessive about trying to emulate Muhammad. However, Shia Muslims have a bit less of a raging boner for Muhammad.
A really important distinction between Sunni and Shia is their differing idea of jihad. Sunni Islam permits offensive jihad (attempting to spread Islam via jihad) whereas Shia Islam doesn't. That's why every single jihadist terrorist attack in western nations has been done by Sunni Muslims and never Shia.
