There was no heat in Indian curry until the Portuguese brought chillies over from South America. I only learned that recently.
@zutt So this will be framed as evidence of mounting authoritarianism in Israel. I'd argue that it doesn't show that as the government had nothing to do with it. What it does show is a more radicalised public. Netanyahu's reign has definitely emboldened the hard right in Israel. Once they're allowed out their cage they can have a contagious effect and a nasty form of nationalism can take root in a section of the public.
It's those intolerant nationalists who've created the outrage here. The magazine are cowards though.
all companies are cowards now, cuz they're filled with SJW's, due to the over-arching staff fearing less sales from bad reputation
It was reaction of the newspaper
Yeah I always make that point. It's little wonder we're now seeing outrage mobs being orchestrated by the far right when the far left have done it for years now and shown it to work.
The gov was not reported to be involved
It could have been but frankly i just take it as overblown reaction
Sure, I was meaning that there'll be people with an agenda trying to portray this as evidence of Israel having slipped into some authoritarian dictatorship.
Clearly the pigs are there not as an antisemitic symbol but as a animal farm reference
Well i dont like current state of izrael but thats not what this particular story is about
The antisemitism accusation is dishonest. They were just butthurt that Netanyahu and his recent policy were being criticised.
stupid reason though, cuz the pigs from Animal farm are meant to be the communists that put themselves above the commoner
Well in a way this happens in every populist gov sooner or later
Yup!
not just populist
this is power corrupting
Yeah but the more power you hold the faster you and yours get corupted
yeah
but populist is a useless term
animal farm
oooh
It's my thrid favourite orwell book
Fidel Castro is Napoleon
This just came up on autoplay for me https://youtu.be/JeY-wrvVnf8
and che guevara was snowball
Im cracking up pepsi’s pipl are attacking her lel
bullshit,
Che Guevara was just as much a monster as Videl
Yeah, exactly
I find that populism always has a corrosive effect on social relations even if democracy and state appatatus itself aren't altered. So Erdoğan in Turkey is an example of both. He has ripped up all the institutions and reformed them to his preference. He has also created a social civil war between Islamists and secularists.
But you get Corbyn in UK who if elected I doubt would actually damage democracy or toy with UK institutions. However, his populust rhetoric about "the people" and "the elites" would create huge social divisions. @zutt
But he had nobler intentions, you see
He didn't go full "I WANT THE POWER CUBA IS MINE"
no, he was just "You must die cuz you dont agree with my ways"
That was castro
It's weird
its any communist leader
Animal farm can be a metaphor for so many revolutions
Like the French revolution
With Robespierre
Animal farm is a metaphor for any "More equity for the people" revolution
