That's what people really liked about em.
I thought people liked him for how his eyes bulged
@Schedrevka nah, the reward for something doesn't have to be material
Doesn't have to be a medal, or a badge
It can be for respect, for love
I never meant to claim that, I was trying to understand what someone else was saying
advancing in the social hierarchy
I hate when people say that others only do good because they have something to gain from it whether something observable or not
Well you may hate it
But unfortunately, it's true
@Schedrevka the definition of good can be anything
Survival is not good or bad
Its either that the person has something to gain
Or that the person is indoctrinated into an ideology
everything we do in life iss all about survival , this is the basic foundation of living and life
So you really believe that no one ever goes out of their way to do something for others purely by their own choice to try and make the world a better place, and gets nothing out of it not even good feelings?
Well, I wouldn't say no one.
There's definitely cases where a person acts due to a stead belief in a list of morale
But I highly doubt that's the case with over 99.9%
A person may join the army to escape jail
But it doesn't erase the fact that they served in the military
For an example of a good act done self lessly, an example that was inspiring to me was Bret Weinstein
Baffles me why more people don't follow that example.
Fear
In a frat party, his colleagues got a bunch of prostitutes over
It skyrocketed Peterson into another dimension.
And simulated rape on them with cucumbers
Bret reported it multiple times
Wrote several articles and an editorial
It resulted in him gaining a ton of enemies, losing a lot of his friends
There was no foreseeable value I see so far in him doing so
He took the people who did it, to court
And got them suspended
All done selflessly
Another example I like, is Gandhi in Champaran
There was a village called Champaran, a very fertile land
Under the East India company, the farmers were forced to grow indigo on their farms
But, when Germany made synthetic indigo
The farm grown, organic indigo dropped a lot in value
