Scrib, you've dated before, right? Ever had a list of traits that you had in an ideal partner?

2018-08-15 23:47:27 UTC

No I haven't.

2018-08-15 23:47:33 UTC

rip

2018-08-15 23:47:43 UTC

Then you may not understand this, then.

2018-08-15 23:47:44 UTC

I stand by my amateur diagnosis.

2018-08-15 23:48:06 UTC

mm, rather constructive, Beef.

2018-08-15 23:48:17 UTC

Your amateur diagnosis include two wildly different things, and you'd probably take credit for the middle as well.

2018-08-15 23:48:23 UTC

Anyway, when they've got those requirements

2018-08-15 23:48:30 UTC

That's an announcement that there's work that needs to get done.

2018-08-15 23:48:43 UTC

At the end of the day, those requirements may not be met

2018-08-15 23:48:50 UTC

But they'll go with someone who's the closest candidate.

2018-08-15 23:49:02 UTC

As someone who's actually been in a hiring position (kind of)

2018-08-15 23:49:31 UTC

If it were both then yes I'd take credit for that, as it would be the middle.

"constructive" implies some progress will be made. If I'm right then we aren't capable of doing anything to help. I'm just putting it out there that this may be a battle not worth fighting.

Shaddap.

2018-08-15 23:50:50 UTC

>virtue-signalling begins

2018-08-15 23:50:59 UTC

I cAN't prove it but i know it

2018-08-15 23:51:18 UTC

I used to work for a laundry delivery company.

2018-08-15 23:51:25 UTC

This company, in particular, delivers by bicycle.

2018-08-15 23:51:38 UTC

most drug dealers deliver by bike

2018-08-15 23:51:41 UTC

We'd regularly tow 300 lb loads up hills.

2018-08-15 23:51:42 UTC

i mean laundry

2018-08-15 23:52:10 UTC

I don't see what the point of this story is but I'm sure we'll get to it eventually.

2018-08-15 23:52:18 UTC

When we'd try to hire people, we would put our requirements forward.

2018-08-15 23:52:33 UTC

>uphill both ways btw

2018-08-15 23:52:35 UTC

I would've loved to deliver newspapers. No people to deal with. The silence of night. but then I discovered how long the routes are, and how 'okay' the pay is, and I divined that my car would die before I had the capital to replace said car to continue the work.

2018-08-15 23:52:56 UTC

That was depressing.

2018-08-15 23:53:27 UTC

Well, the candidates that would come up would INVARIABLY fall short.

2018-08-15 23:53:55 UTC

And we weren't even asking for college degrees.

2018-08-15 23:54:18 UTC

(We were asking for specific experience in cycling)

2018-08-15 23:54:45 UTC

At the end of the day, one of the people we hired was actually a boxer. They dug the job because it was good exercise.

2018-08-15 23:55:00 UTC

How specific though? Cycling isn't something a lot of people do outside of a hobby

2018-08-15 23:55:04 UTC

At the end of the day, all we cared about was that the work was getting done.

2018-08-15 23:55:59 UTC

Any time they're listing credentials on job listings, they're listing the 'ideal'. If you don't meet the requirements, and they don't want to hire you, fuck'em. But if you don't ask, the answer's no anyway. There really isn't any harm.

2018-08-15 23:56:34 UTC

Which is why an oversaturated labor market is a problem for anyone not very specifically qualified.

2018-08-15 23:56:47 UTC

People were laughing at me earlier for mention the HR blacklists.
