I used to be in favor of the death penalty as the sister of a murder victim. Once I got to know the justice system better, I changed my mind.
It is what it is. I try to use my experience to keep others from going through what I went through, but most people have to learn their own lessons anyway; so I don't even know if it's realistic to think that I can "help" others in any way anymore.
But some people have told me that what happened to my brother caused them to give their teen children explicit and cautionary tales regarding what happened to him, so maybe it did help.
