Anyone know best deals on MRE type foods for storage? Month or two supplies for 5-7 people?

Huzzah! Church of Jesus Christ do be lit
I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, so I guess I rely a lot on their resources because I am familiar. ๐๐๐
2 MREs a day for normal work and physical activity. Each one should have 1200 calories. If you plan on road marching 20 miles and also doing normal activities, 3 a day. Expect to drink up to a gallon of water or more per person, per day.
Your bugout bag should have enough food and water for 3 days, minimum. Sleeping accommodations, basic first aid, various tools, extra ammo, etc.
I'll post picts and a list of my bob
I need to make a shopping/Amazon list for it for a couple friends
This is going to sound strange... But has anyone thought about keeping a small compacted garbage bag just incase you need it to look like its trash thrown aside? Or keep a mobile battery charger and 1.5w solar panel? I peobably went overboard and my bag is light and half way done. I need to look like i'm not homeless and not hauling a ton of stuff while walking so i'm hoping someone might have the perfect look to share
i've been thinking about getting into prepping more where should i start?
maybe learn about freeze-drying or vacuum sealing
if u have money to burn....build a bunker to store everything u might need and might not need but can trade for what u need
and start learning new and old skills ....something is useful and can be traded
I have a mobile solar charger on my backpack
Its just ment for small things. Phone, iPod, rechargeable flashlight.
It just clips on the oitside of my bag and charges when I walk
nice
I'll post my bag and supplies in here soon. Just been too busy to bust it out. Lol
> i've been thinking about getting into prepping more where should i start?
@Innocentsmith S.C.A https://www.skilledsurvival.com/free-bug-out-bag-checklist/
This is what i followed
for me i got the bag first and then tools/ shelter. Amazon has some pretty good deals
rechargable/ solar stuff are the best
Do you recommend making a bug out bag, considering the current circumstances?
Who wants to see my purse EDC? Lol
Does a "bug out" make sense in your situation? Does "bugging in"? Do you have a get home kit in your car? Where would you bug out to? Lots of questions you need to ask yourself.
Bugging out means packing up and heading to the boonies
Yeap. And I always have my bob in my truck.
Comes in handy a lot actually.
> Bugging out means packing up and heading to the boonies
@KumquatLord Ehhh, it means packing up and heading elsewhere. Just "the boonies" isn't really a destination, and living off the land is a LOT harder than a lot of people think it is.
This thread was a good idea ๐๐๐ป

Oh I also have aqua tabs too
Thats my backup. Lol
I have a mini one that can screw into propane cans, but I dont carry any tanks with me. (I have some in my truck tho)
Theyre too bulky for a bob

I always have my bob in my truck
Ahhh
Yeah, I live in oregon out in the country.
I always carry it, never know when I'm gonna break down or get stuck or injured or someone else ya know.
I dont have a change of clothes in my bag. But I live in Oregon... we all carry extra clothes either on us or with us. Every day. Lol
The weather here changes so much and its such a diverse landscape. The only time you dont have extra clothing is mid summer.
Or good. Depending on your point of view
I have since dismantled my bug out bag. I have a bug out vehicle. I chose a minivan. Took a hint from the van dwellers and realized that I can have all the modern commodities minus a bathroom and be able to move it anywhere in the country, in the matter of hours. 30mpg allows for 500 miles on one tank. Loaded with all my gear, I can pack 1,000 pounds of extras.
I've been looking into doing that
And a bugout/camping trailer
You can go 20 miles a day on foot, or 1,000 miles a day in a car.
Just to haul tents and supplies and shit
Yup. I see it as a more sustainable prepping system
For long term GOOD scenarios
GOOD = Get Out Of Dodge.
My diesel heater is in my cart along with 2 200 watt solar panels, 2 100ah batteries, a solar charger, a fridge with freezer, microwave, etc. Im decking this puppy out
Picts!@Ironman
Ill be posting a build log. Trust me.
@Deleted User Inside the van is my TA50. At any point I can dismount and deploy. Mormon style.
Been hunting, camping, and fishing since I was old enough to walk. My dad taught me everything from snare traps to how to cook fish over an open fire.
Theres a reason I live in missouri. Used to live in Utah.
Utah is fun and all but it really lacks wild edible plants.
I dont remember the manual codes. Been out since 2009
This is the perfect place. Wild blackberries, raspberries, gooseberries, etc. Mushrooms everywhere (just go for morels, hen of the woods, and oysters, easy to identify and almost no poisonous lookalikes)
And everyone is a farmer around here so there is livestock and gardens to pilfer from if need be
Boxer and snapper turtles are edible, but Id space them out. Turtles can eat really toxic stuff.
Plenty of bullfrogs for frog legs, rabbits, coons, possums, etc.
Every river has catfish too.
So much food its incredible
In utah its sagebrush as far as the eye can see. Very few rivers. And jackrabbits that have parasites and rocky mountain fever.
Mercury is a problem...
Yup. They are a winter game. Oh and the turkeys around here are nuts. They are everywhere. And deer too. Never seen so many
