Oh classmates ok
Yeah throwing that idea into a group of leftists can have some pretty weird results
They have trouble processing the wrongthink
Progressives always assume everyone else is a fellow progressive because they are used to their comfortable bubble.
They get all shock-faced and uncomfortable if you question the narrative, it can be very funny.
"How did you get in here? This is a SAFE SPACE REEEEEEEE"
Check out The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying up by Marie Kondo. Follow her instructions on how to get rid of things and be *ruthless*. You will feel so light and free afterwards.
@sweetpea if you can get over cringing at the words it's actually a pretty good guideline.
Good deal @Saint I'll do my best to make it--I might be out of town road tripping to Montana though.
Is there no show tonight?
You mean they already did it? Did it get taken down or something?
Yeah I understand, I'm just confused why the show is not still available to view... Usually it stays up. Hopefully they reupload for tomorrow.
@0xBEEF would you be OK with parents choosing to remove the tips of their newborn babies' toes, or cropping their ears, or any other number of 'small' or 'unimportant' cosmetic alterations?
I didn't give my full name and made a burner email account for just that reason @Putz
A little paranoid but there are bad people online...
Both are important but confidence is different from narcissism
And it usually comes naturally out of competence so you are right
I.e. hubris
A word that has sadly fallen out of use.
Yeah sounds like it.
Much better would be at the *end* of the day: did you do something smart? Did you do something kind?
Female culture nowadays seems like it's all about *unconditional* positive self-regard which is so masturbatory
Rah rah girls are great
Even when they are acting like shitheads
And boys suck even when they are trying their best
So counterproductive
Focus on actions and results
I dunno. Beautiful in the conventional sense doesn't hurt.
All of those are good things in any person though.
As in "pretend it's not real"
Yes, that kind of sentiment troubles me generally. It's a Leftist tactic of destruction/subversion.
Also it does not escape my notice that they picked a conventionally beautiful child as the backdrop for their subversion.
Exactly.
It is and it isn't. There are universals, or at least near-universals.
People 99% agree on beautiful vs ugly faces for instance.
But there is still lots of room for subjectivity and preference.
I used to be staunchly opposed to it because of the whole not being 100% sure of guilt thing.
Now I struggle with it too.
Kind of oddly I was more against it when I was a hardline atheist because I was so convinced death was the absolute end.
Now I am more inclined to spirituality and think it might be less final than that.
I still think it might be wrong to kill except in defense though so...
It's not a justification exactly. Just a removal of one of the stronger reasons to be staunchly against.
I still come down mostly anti.
So you're saying it would be humane to end their suffering @DJ_Anuz? XD
Well I definitely believe in letting people choose death over imprisonment @DJ_Anuz
@Shadows yeah your reasoning is sound. It's just an emotional/outlook shift on my part that I find interesting.
@micamike45 equivalent to putting down a rabid or vicious dog?
Jussie's story made no sense to begin with. Two guys jump him and he fights them, but barely gets bruised, doesn't even lose his Subway sandwich, while somehow they manage to get a clothesline 'noose' around his neck before running off yelling 'this MAGA country Bitch!'
That is just not a plausible account of a beating
And then he doesn't even take the 'noose' off but waits with it dangling on his neck for 45 minutes until the detectives arrive
NOT REAL
that is not how humans behave
Why do you need to invent an elaborate theory to protect his honor?
@Shadows to be fair that is like, 12 years away tops
TIPPY TOPS
Tails, if we are impugning the backgrounds of characters instead of going by the evidence in the Smollet case, that article was written by an intersectional feminist.
So it's invalid.
Probably because Jussie was talking about it VERY LOUDLY himself
Sure, I'm not arguing that CPD is a bunch of standup guys
But what he said ^
Yuuuuup
@Saint I heard a superchat that I think was from you about the southern AZ meetup? What's the deal?
I haven't seen an email from anyone in the address I left on the spreadsheet
Ah ok
Cool cool. I should be able to come unless it's the 9th-13th. Are we going shooting?
Excellent. I'll bring my P320 and my AR if it's a rifle range
Haven't been there before
Sounds good. Thanks for organizing.
It certainly doesn't predict success entirely, because high IQ people can be a) lazy fucks who never do anything productive and/or b) sidetracked by their intelligence into too many intellectual rabbit holes and/or c) get totally obsessed with some problem that might be interesting or useful but doesn't lead to profit.
But IQ is still definitely a thing. High processing speed, good working memory, ability to solve problems across disciplines. It makes learning and integrating new skills and information faster and more useful.
Soph is funny and clearly a very intelligent young woman--watch her livestreams, she accounts for herself well.
They did it wrong. Should have preached to him about how having a great gift comes with the responsibility to make a commensurate contribution to posterity. Instead of just swelling his head up with delusions of grandeur based on immutable characteristics instead of accomplishments.
@Bowman151 that's Vox Day's analogy, yes?
It's a pretty good one.
The solution to minimum wage is to abolish the minimum wage, heavily restrict immigration, repatriate all illegals and encourage people to live near their extended families.
If we could convince 80-90% of women to leave the workforce and also stop the flood of immigration then wages would rise naturally back to the point that a single middle-class income would comfortably support a family. Then we could tackle the housing prices with a *severe* property tax on foreign landholders. Then we'd be in a position to start discussing government action on fuel alternatives, which is not really a problem in the US because we are a fuel exporter.
But I too would like to hear what this magical solution looks like.
A *much* easier way to accomplish the same goal is just to tax the fuel more heavily.
That will naturally incentivize people to drive less.
It would eventually. But I try not to use California as an example of anything because they are halfway to communism and their markets are totally fucked.
^That's where my punitive taxes on foreign landholders come in.
Force them to sell and the prices will drop.
There is a whole constellation of policies that have been working over 60-plus years that have made our societies far too addicted to driving long distances.
Suburban mono-zoning for instance
The Federal gov doesn't need to be involved at all.
Montana by and for Montanans, California by and for Californians
@Mandatory Carry where did I say anything about dictating where people can live?
And it was me that wants to abolish minimum wage, but only in conjunction with several other policies.
It's one of several options.
'Encourage' and 'dictate' are not the same word.
I am talking about a cultural shift
And yes I do believe that making fuel more expensive will reduce driving.
No, you really are misintepreting.
You are being intentionally uncharitable to my position by assuming my intentions and filling in the gaps in my positions with what you think I think.
That is on you not me.
Just to be clear *if* the goal is to reduce fuel use, my preferred policy would be a revenue-neutral fuel tax that returns the revenues generated from the tax to every resident of the region being taxed, with as little overhead as possible.
Thus not decreasing overall household buying power but incentivizing the purchase of less fuel and items that have less embedded fuel costs.
You are seriously overreacting, man.
I will repeat that as far as encouraging people to live near their families and women dropping out of the workforce to raise families I am speaking purely in cultural terms and not about law *at all*. So I'll ask you to take a deep breath and stop misinterpreting me as some kind of authoritarian.
