Oof.
That turn around.
Both have always existed you know.
The single mother thing isnt altogether that new either i think.
1980's or so when it hit near what it is now i think?
I think the relatively slow rise of it also goes quite a bit even before that.
"When Moynihan warned in his 1965 report on the coming destruction of the Black family, however, the out-of-wedlock birthrate had increased to 25% among the Black population.[25] This figure continued to rise over time and in 1991, 68% of Black children were born outside of marriage."
'Out of wedlock' doesnt really 1:1 with single mothers per say, but it might be fairly close.
Interesting that the civil rights act was passed in 1964. So if you werent paying attention to any other factors, you could see that statistic and draw a correlation.
Or what you mean by 'did the parties learn something'
Decline of the family unit isnt a black only thing.
You seem to at least somewhat be falling for what i think alot of people might, when they see that statistic.
Yes, blacks have a higher rate of out-of-wedlock births
But it was rising, consistently, for everyone around the times listed in that wiki quote
Suppose if that's how you want to view it you can.
I wouldnt call what i think you're talking about a 'decline'
You could perhaps list the decline of religious (Christian, Primarily) values as a reason for more births occuring out of wedlock, and higher divorce rates.
Peoples morals and values vary wildly. I dont really have any comment on the first part, but alot of the sacredness of the 'family unit' or 'nuclear family' is related to religious/christian values (Which can be held even by people who arent religious at least in part) Also related to modesty surrounding sex, and whether it feels taboo to talk about it.
Well, somebody can be a christian, go to church once in a while, pray, but in daily life give it next to no regard.
It's pretty stable as far as systems go.
Most people (Especially younger people) who say they're communist have in mind the stateless, or at least kind of libertarian concept of it. Not Stalinism.
There are a few stalinists out there though. They vary from stupid to malicious. Seem to be in the minority from what i can tell, as least in north america.
I think i can safely call people who want political prisoners and gulags to be a thing 'malicious'
He used to focus on espousing the 'classical liberal' point of view, which i respect a good amount, even if i dont agree on everything.
He's really moved away from that as far as i can tell.
"White men get to the top because....... (------)"
Eh, im not terribly interested, especially if its one sided.
Thomas:"I'm in favour of making things more equal."
Sargon: "I'm in favour of making things more free."
Thomas:"Freedom allows white men to control everything!"
^
This is far more in line with what i'd expect
So, Shiv is 17? Are alot of you here quite young?
I figured i'd be at least in the younger half, at 21
They can be awfully boring in a different way from my point of view.
If 90% of what you say i expect after watching the first few minutes of your video
Was shown a few of his videos, made pretty crap impressions on me too.
I like it when people say that though, there's a grain of truth.
Jesus probably wouldnt approve of free market capitalism
It's more of a problem when used in a accusatory way
Yeah but Jesus said the line about; "It's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, then a rich man to get into heaven"
Though i dont know how much meaning in that is lost in translation
Gun rights are neat, but actually revoluting with them in the modern day would be....
Maybe, but they really fumbled after the conservatives said they'd do the referendum
Also, im really not a fan of Tommy, but the circumstances of the arrest are pretty bullshit.
it seems like they were looking for any reason to arrest and sentence the guy to me
Cant help but really dislike the guy, but yeah, he wasnt treated fairly.
Yeah i think in the US the politeness scale goes
