So I had no idea that this server exists until 5 minutes ago. I found an article that's pretty interesting, but is it alright to post it here? Couldn't find a rule for it in the info chat.
More specifically, about how Americans view political correctness, etc.
It's a pretty well done study, I think, and the study itself is linked in the article, so people can check it and give it a seal of approval.
I hope he posts it. It's a pretty fascinating study.
I live in Commiefornia, I get what you mean ~~please send help~~.
Is it still pride if you want to flee? It's literally going down the crapper.
In some neighborhoods, yes. it is American India. A friend of mine (I think he might be in here) lives in a neighborhood that's mostly Indian.
Well. Back to my diversity requirement coursework.
This class seems surprisingly tame. I'm keeping alert about everything though. And being half latina, half arab, and a few other neat tricks, I have the benefit of not immediately being thrown out.
I'll have to keep that joke in my pocket. That's a new one. Never knew about the hot-headed stereotype
And honestly, why the hell not. We drew pictures of consoles and the PC master race, so
Why would you not want your side to be personified by a cute redhead
God, if I'm forced to write one more thing about microaggressions for this class I'm going to projectile vomit.
It's a class that fills the diversity requirement that the campus has.
see if I really wanted to, I'd say that making me sit down and read that much material is really harsh on students with ADHD, I could argue it.
But I don't have the willpower to spout that much bull in one sitting.
Wow that sentence really didn't hold well. I'm tired.
I will have to read that not-right-now. Right now I try to get 2-3 hours of sleep before I get ready for class.
The thing with the death penalty is that it demands not only a very terrible crime, but it also requires a very high standard for evidence.
Well, the main issue with abortion is that people argue two different points.
It's not a matter of life for pro-choice, it's not a matter of choice for pro-life.
I don't trust to the government with the death penalty. I recognize that there's an emotional response that I would have to a child molester or mass murderer, and you can't act legally based on emotions, especially when there's life on the line.
But the truth is that we don't have a proper punishment people who do commit serious crimes, because we can't really impose anything that would serve justice for some crimes. I'm not sure what my stance is on it still.
You're right, Tim. I should have used a different word. I suppose I meant more of... there's no way to bring justice to it.
Okay. Let's play this thought game for a second. You have someone who is so broken that they want to get the high score for making as many people as miserable as possible. Unless you really want to do some heavy brainwashing you won't change them.
Okay. Here's a good question. Should people in prison have the right to vote? If you say no, you have to admit that this is suspending their rights until they've served their time, and that would mean it is, in fact, a form of punishment. I think Dusty is right, you can't have one without the other, but that's more a matter of the reality of time in prison.
I am absolutely in favor of rehabilitation in prison. I've seen the numbers for re-offending
Ohh. This is an interesting perspective that I haven't considered. I'm not sure how much I agree with the "serve to get the right to vote" thing, but I think the concept is fascinating.
Well, that's just giving something a proper name. There's a difference between saying "being sad for a long time" and "depression"
I MEAN, you can, but that's a serious medical condition
Ah, I'll have to watch it later. I may or may not be at school right now.
I may not agree with everything he says, but he's cool.
...I think that's just being a certain flavor of British.
That really depend. Do you do anything for your community?
Listen, it's okay to be disabled and getting benefits. You help your community in some way, and if you can find other ways, do it; even if it's just volunteer work, it shows that you're giving back to the people who give to you.
... Okay. This may be an odd thing but how about knitting? Make some clothes. Blankets. Anything like that.
Again, just try looking for volunteer stuff. It's so important to fill your time with productivity.
Are there any organizations that try to... "Match" disability and a job?
