It came on the clips?
Very nice
Oof
M1 garands are expensive to feed, when i get mine i probably wont shoot it much but it's a good collector piece
You also have to get garand safe ammo or an adjustable gas plug for modern loads
But yours is surplus so it should be safe
I got into guns recently so i'm trying to build up my collection, get milsurp, "assault weapons", and "high capacity" magazines first
The status of milsurp in this country sucks, damn import laws
Canadians can get russian SKSes for $300 cad and buy norinco guns, russian SKSes in the US are $600-700
Canada has great import laws, unfortunately limited to 5 round mags on semi auto rifles though
I have a budget ar, a t/cr22(10/22 clone), and a mosin nagant carbine(m38)
The mosin is my favorite gun i've shot, and i've tried out a lot of other people's guns
Ah he must have a restricted license
Shitty thing about canada right now is that there's a push there to ban handguns and "assault weapons" after some guy went on a mass shooting and killed 5 people with an illegally smuggled handgun from the US
NFA?
Ah
I don't follow them down to that level so i'm not sure
Yeah lol
Nice, i hope that happens to the NRA in the near future
We have GOA for that but NRA has a lot more members
When i start my new job i'm going to join the GOA, SAF, and VCDL(virginia gun rights org)
How so
In virginia we have good gun laws but the governor is anti gun and the state legislature is only 51R to 49D
We also have state preemption so even though i live in the more liberal northern VA i get to enjoy the same laws as the rest of the state
Damn
Oh yeah i think i read about that, 1 cent tax per round
"Fuck you, .22lr shooters"
Anything to push people away from exercising their rights
Literally a poll tax
The main reason i got into guns was the politics
I was dragged along by my grandparents to the march for our lives since we live in northern va so i went along with them and seeing the protestors pushed me away over to the pro gun side
I had never really paid attention to the gun debate before and seeing that these people didnt value the 2nd amendment at all changed my mind
Lol
I know in new york(may just be nyc) its a crime to touch a gun at all if you dont have a license
Some places have really bad laws because the SCOTUS hasn't really taken gun cases
Lower courts are allowed to get away with a lot
New jersey reduced their magazine limit from 15 to 10 and you have to destroy your mag, get it modded to a 10 rounder, or ship it out of state or else you can be convicted of a felony, no grandfathering
And their court upheld that as constitutional
I think in massachusetts you can be jailed for life if you have a bump stock, but if you have an actual illegal machine gun you'd only get the 10-15 years federal law has
The NFA itself shouldn't even be constitutional lol
Especially in combination with the hughes amendment
Its a de facto machine gun ban
Lol people are scared already of machine guns, look at the bump stock panic, some people even think ar15s are machine guns due to misinformation
As for CC some places have extremely restrictive rules on who can CC to the point where only people with connections can get permits, and some people are convinced CC permit holders are just going to randomly shoot people(see the teachers with guns in schools debate)
Also with HPA most people are still convinced that silencers are what you see in movies
Then you have the incrementalist thinking, where gun rights vs gun control is a tug of war type of thing where even if what you give to the other side is harmless, you're still losing
The thing to convince moderates on right now is that "assault weapon" and "high capacity" magazine bans are useless and unconstitutional
Funny thing is gun control used to be about handgun control, they're used in the vast majority of homicides
Americans like their handguns though, so they moved on to "assault weapons"
And the more the media freaks about ar15s, the more people buy them
Funny thing about all of this is that i'm not even right leaning, im just a center left libertarian that likes to call out the democrats for their shit lol
Yep
Even in the original AWB it banned stuff like the tec 9 and street sweeper shotgun
And in washington state I1639 redefines all semi auto rifles as "semi automatic assault rifles"
Yes, even 10/22s
It is, the buyback didnt even confiscate half of australia's guns and now australia has more guns than they did before the buyback
It also didn't have a significant impact on homicides or suicides afaik
People like to focus on gun deaths though, "look guys, banning guns lowered gun deaths", but overall deaths remain unchanged
The idea that you need to ban guns to stop people from choosing to take their own lives is incredibly insulting
australia also had a panic over lever action shotguns recently
pretty sure they put them in the most restrictive category
Yeah there's the winchester 1887, that's an older design but newer designs were made for australia
asutralia put pump shotguns in a pretty restricted category, but lever action ones weren't. So in australia lever action shotguns were pretty popular as a result, but then they got pushed to the most restricted category(i believe worse than pump action)
Yeah I own a mosin nagant carbine manufactured in 1942 and it holds up well, only issue was the stock had a crack on it but i glued it and the stock doesnt impact functionality
As long as guns are maintained and stored well, with wearable parts replaced every so often(springs, magazine, etc) they can last a very long time
Nah, depends on the company
for example remington got bought out and since then they've been putting poor finishes on their guns and have a tendency to rust
mossberg is a very good alternative to remington though
they still make good guns
thats kind of how you need to have ARs in california, if you have any "assault weapon" features your magazine needs to be fixed into place and the gun's lower and upper receivers must be separated for you to remove the magazine or load it with a clip
cool
I'm not interested in joining the NRA though due to their politics and willingness to "compromise" (bump stocks, no NFA repeal, etc)
Only reason id join the NRA is being able to vote for board members to get the fudds out
I just want to own full auto and an rpg damnit
That's like saying you can own tanks but the tank cannon has to be deactivated
>implying allowing ISPs to throttle your connection to certain sites is a good thing
I've read some stuff about ISPs throttling league of legends but that may be older news, I haven't been following the news on net neutrality admittedly
The removal of net neutrality hasn't really had an impact yet but ISPs in the US often have regional monopolies, people don't want to give the ISPs so much power over what their users can do with their service when there's no alternative
The ISPs wanted net neutrality repealed for a reason
Yeah, data caps were being placed on rural users and they have no option but to give their ISP more money to use their internet past the cap
You have local fiber popping up here and there though which is good
Point is the ISPs wanted NN lifted for a reason, we'll see why eventually
Also the concern with net neutrality repeal isnt slowing down of speeds, its certain websites being throttled, the unthrottled speed of your internet will only go up over time due to upgrades in infrastructure
I'm pretty sure net neutrality was popular when people were polled on the issue, something like 80% approval
Being for net neutrality doesn't make you a democrat and i don't identify as a democrat, though i am center left
I think Trump was good for the supreme court justice picks, we need judges that are willing to uphold the 2nd amendment
Yeah the response is just "lets hit them back harder"
I'm aware there was talk about prison reform but didn't know there was a bill
