Gun safety and introductory courses should be a staple portion of any high school curriculum.

2018-12-14 22:22:54 UTC

Teach the kids even earlier than that. Level zero is "This is the muzzle, don't point it at people. This is the trigger, don't touch it until you are ready to shoot."

2018-12-14 22:23:25 UTC

By high school they should have a level 2 training.

2018-12-14 22:26:59 UTC

Be able to identify most common firearms and clear them for inspection.

2018-12-14 22:34:10 UTC

I agree with that

2018-12-15 02:38:34 UTC

@garonedin CMP garand? Nice. What condition? When I start my new job I want to get one in service grade condition

2018-12-15 02:38:52 UTC

Yeah, Service Grade.

2018-12-15 02:38:57 UTC

Cool

2018-12-15 02:39:25 UTC

CMP sells M1911s too but they cost more than the garands and from what i've heard have had spotty condition

2018-12-15 02:39:56 UTC

Best part is; I can in theory get it and just start shooting
because I got like... 200 rounds of Ethiopian Surplus fuddy aught six on en bloc clips

2018-12-15 02:40:25 UTC

It came on the clips?

2018-12-15 02:40:28 UTC

yes

2018-12-15 02:40:35 UTC

in bandolier belts

2018-12-15 02:40:38 UTC

in an m1 ammo can

2018-12-15 02:40:41 UTC

all

2018-12-15 02:40:45 UTC

Very nice

2018-12-15 02:40:48 UTC

for roughly $200

2018-12-15 02:40:53 UTC

Oof

2018-12-15 02:41:18 UTC

That's actually fairly good for non-corrosive surplus, plus clips, plus ammo can

2018-12-15 02:41:26 UTC

M1 garands are expensive to feed, when i get mine i probably wont shoot it much but it's a good collector piece

2018-12-15 02:42:24 UTC

You also have to get garand safe ammo or an adjustable gas plug for modern loads

2018-12-15 02:42:38 UTC

But yours is surplus so it should be safe

2018-12-15 02:42:46 UTC

yeah, loaded to m2 ball specs

2018-12-15 02:43:13 UTC

the next purchase is kinda a toss up between a ported gas plug or a slant flash can for my AR-15 to make it look like a las-gun

2018-12-15 02:44:16 UTC

I got into guns recently so i'm trying to build up my collection, get milsurp, "assault weapons", and "high capacity" magazines first

2018-12-15 02:44:32 UTC

The status of milsurp in this country sucks, damn import laws

2018-12-15 02:45:05 UTC

yeah.
I kinda got my collection mostly filled out. Couple of ARs, Beginner Rifles, a couple of Milsurps

2018-12-15 02:45:24 UTC

Canadians can get russian SKSes for $300 cad and buy norinco guns, russian SKSes in the US are $600-700

2018-12-15 02:45:29 UTC

THough now that I think about
I lack Auto-loading shotguns, any handguns, any precision rifles, any pistol caliber carbines

2018-12-15 02:45:38 UTC

yeah

2018-12-15 02:45:48 UTC

Canadians get all the fun surplus russian stuff now

2018-12-15 02:46:05 UTC

Canada has great import laws, unfortunately limited to 5 round mags on semi auto rifles though

2018-12-15 02:46:06 UTC

at least for cheap

2018-12-15 02:46:31 UTC

yeah, though I think m1 garands are an exception

2018-12-15 02:46:35 UTC

because canadian designed

2018-12-15 02:47:09 UTC

I have a budget ar, a t/cr22(10/22 clone), and a mosin nagant carbine(m38)

2018-12-15 02:48:01 UTC

The mosin is my favorite gun i've shot, and i've tried out a lot of other people's guns

2018-12-15 02:48:09 UTC

I know my canadian friend has a C1A1 (FAL) somewhere in Alberta I believe

2018-12-15 02:48:25 UTC

Ah he must have a restricted license

2018-12-15 02:49:17 UTC

Shitty thing about canada right now is that there's a push there to ban handguns and "assault weapons" after some guy went on a mass shooting and killed 5 people with an illegally smuggled handgun from the US

2018-12-15 02:50:10 UTC

What's the Canadian NFA really up to these days?
