Traitorous hag

2019-08-03 22:35:42 UTC

She is an idiot

2019-08-03 22:35:57 UTC

Possibly the worst Lib Dem leader

2019-08-03 22:36:49 UTC

I could have some respect for slightly more reasonable people like Vince Cable but she is just awful

2019-08-03 22:37:14 UTC

british liberal democrats are the most inappropriately titled party ever

2019-08-03 22:37:47 UTC

They do have the worst name, Given that they are barely Liberal and they are certainly not democratic

2019-08-03 22:38:05 UTC

almost the least liberal party, period

2019-08-03 22:38:12 UTC

Tories only barely eke them out

2019-08-03 22:38:22 UTC

It depends what definition you use for Liberalism

2019-08-03 22:38:31 UTC

the original one

2019-08-03 22:38:33 UTC

the correct one

2019-08-03 22:39:29 UTC

If you treat it as essentially being a slight divulgence of Libertarianism then they are certainly not Liberal

2019-08-03 22:39:43 UTC

But many Liberal Parties nowadays are barely like that

2019-08-03 22:40:02 UTC

the acknowledgement of the necessity of the state isn't a 'slight' difference, but basically yeah

2019-08-03 22:40:41 UTC

Well no i don't think Libertarians want to remove the State

2019-08-03 22:41:00 UTC

I think they just want to significantly reduce the size and power of the state

2019-08-03 22:41:07 UTC

not most, no, they just want to take literally everything out of its responsibility

2019-08-03 22:41:21 UTC

If they wanted to remove the state then most would essentially be anarchists

2019-08-03 22:42:37 UTC

Most libertarians i know support a kind of Minarchist state

2019-08-03 22:42:44 UTC

I maintain Andrew Ryan's Rapture as an accurate model of the logical conclusion of modern libertarianism

2019-08-03 22:43:54 UTC

I think Libertarianism is different from what is essentially a form of radical objectivism which is what is displayed in Rapture

2019-08-03 22:43:55 UTC

you know, minus genetic splicing

2019-08-03 22:45:39 UTC

I dunno, dude, a wealthy russian immigrant industrialist builds a city underwater outside the jurisdiction of internationally recognized powers and invites other wealthy industrialists and innovators while simultanouesly leaving the contractors who built his city in his ideological dust?

2019-08-03 22:45:57 UTC

I mean most Libertarianism believe in a state of some sort however in Rapture there basically isn't a Government the only thing that is done by Ryan is basic policing

2019-08-03 22:45:57 UTC

ranting and raving about the 'great chain of industry'

2019-08-03 22:46:42 UTC

Basic policing, until he decided literally no one can leave, and has his turf war with Fontaine

2019-08-03 22:47:59 UTC

Fontaine fakes his death, Ryan Industries absorbs and cannibalizes Fontaine Futuristics, and the city becomes an oligarchy

2019-08-03 22:48:31 UTC

I don't think Rapture is an accurate representation of Objectivism because the main problem in Rapture was that Fontaine created a monopoly on Plasmids that were poorly made however most Objectivists including Ayn Rand herself maintained the idea that Monopolies are impossible to create in a genuine free market and that they are caused by Government Intervention

Watch–Josh Hawley: ‘Elite Consensus’ for ‘Open Markets, Open Borders’ Disregards American Middle Class
> https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/08/03/watch-josh-hawley-elite-consensus-for-open-markets-open-borders-disregards-

2019-08-03 22:49:43 UTC

Ayn Rand also ignored the need of a competitive corporation to grow

2019-08-03 22:49:47 UTC

Besides the thing that destroyed Rapture was the Plasmids made by Ryan and Fontaine however since they are not a real thing if Andrew Ryan's form of Libertarianism was actually tried it couldn't be destroyed in the same way

2019-08-03 22:50:34 UTC

Guess the communist action is taking effect...

Poll: Less than Half of College Students Think America Is a Superpower
> https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2019/08/03/poll-less-than-half-of-college-students-think-america-is-a-superpower/

2019-08-03 22:51:09 UTC

not in the same way, no, but beyond fictitious genetic superpowers, a strong metaphor for drugs and narcotics can be found

2019-08-03 22:51:16 UTC

And there is no real example of a product like Plasmids that could really cause the same effect in real life, Since they are clearly on a different level to modern drugs

2019-08-03 22:51:43 UTC

not perfectly equivilant, but not too dissimilar

2019-08-03 22:54:23 UTC

his anti-socialist rhetoric was spot on, but those weren't the only people he was referring to when he spat out slurs against the 'parasite'

2019-08-03 22:55:36 UTC

he correctly surmised that the unity of a people bound by a nation state was incompatible with his 'great chain' social construct

2019-08-03 22:56:20 UTC

Well he essentially believed that all people should only be dependent on themselves which is why he opposed the social safety net
