First world societies are more secular than third world societies

Plus we don't have a large sample size of entirely secular societies

They're way better than the messed up stuff that's been don't throughout history while religion dominated

Not arguing that religious societies can't be moral, just that secular societies haven't been proven not to be

Standards of living, life expectancies, and personal freedoms for all people in first world countries today are better than any time in human history. You can always point to weak spots in any system, but across so many factors we're doing pretty damn good

I'm just saying pointing to lack of religious tradition as an indication of moral decline says nothing about secularism, because even if those people weren't following the rules they still held the belief that morals were established by God. That's a belief that's not held by athiests.

I'm not saying secular societies are superior to religious ones. I could defend athiests by saying in studies they're less likely to commit violent crimes, have lower divorce rates etc, but again, I'm not arguing secularism is more just
