2018-07-19 21:16:32 UTC

And indestructible

2018-07-19 21:16:50 UTC

Alright probably more like 60hp

2018-07-19 21:16:55 UTC

I was thinking an actual motorcycle engine

2018-07-19 21:17:07 UTC

because you're sitting on it

2018-07-19 21:17:17 UTC

Where is the torque tho

2018-07-19 21:17:34 UTC

Once again, there are comfy bikes with 2.3L motors

2018-07-19 21:17:36 UTC

You'll be carrying like 300lbs max

2018-07-19 21:17:46 UTC

I fail to see ho- oh

2018-07-19 21:17:48 UTC

camping gear

2018-07-19 21:17:48 UTC

Point

2018-07-19 21:18:16 UTC

I saw the dump truck thing and thought we were on like yard work and landscaping shit

2018-07-19 21:18:27 UTC

lol nah, fuck that

2018-07-19 21:18:30 UTC

Shoulda scrolled up more lol

2018-07-19 21:19:06 UTC

I want it for going up little goat trails made for side by sides, but street legal as well

2018-07-19 21:21:05 UTC

Iunno

2018-07-19 21:21:15 UTC

You should go full redneck anyway

2018-07-19 21:21:24 UTC

Mini mall crawler

2018-07-19 21:22:08 UTC

Engine swap a Honda Africa Twin

2018-07-19 21:23:18 UTC

I hear Renault makes a 2 banger 2 stroke diesel

2018-07-19 21:24:19 UTC

Yeah, but then I have to worry about parts

2018-07-19 21:24:47 UTC

...same for the SDI too, come to think of it

2018-07-19 21:24:57 UTC

Since they dont sell that in the states

2018-07-19 21:26:00 UTC

Harley V-twin would be fine. Air cooled, pretty torquey, plenty available

2018-07-19 21:33:04 UTC

oooo! Or something shaft driven, and then straight into the mini truck axle. Simple!

2018-07-19 22:08:17 UTC

the whole point of motorcycles is them being light and manoeuvrable really, with the advantage of being able to filter/lane split

2018-07-19 22:08:33 UTC

as soon as you turn them into trikes, they become entirely pointless since you get the worst of all worlds

2018-07-19 22:08:50 UTC

you end up with something heavier, less good on fuel with no weather protection that has no traffic advantage

2018-07-19 22:09:06 UTC

Assuming lane splitting is legal where you are

2018-07-19 22:09:29 UTC

Even if it's not, if you travel any reasonable distance you're likely to go through states where it is

2018-07-19 22:09:45 UTC

and again even if it's not, there are plenty of people who just ignore that

2018-07-19 22:10:58 UTC

also, honestly, it's gonna cost you less to just pick up a small pickup

2018-07-19 22:11:36 UTC

I have many times been tempted to get one of these https://www.gumtree.com/p/volkswagen/vw-caddy-pick-up-diesel/1306168421

2018-07-19 22:11:38 UTC

Pickups aren't as small as a motorcycle trike

2018-07-19 22:12:52 UTC

the size difference is not significant really

2018-07-19 22:13:06 UTC

and this is probably smaller, through prohibitively expensive in this debate:

2018-07-19 22:13:53 UTC

though the load carrying ability of that basically renders it kinda stupid, cute though

2018-07-19 22:18:16 UTC

We don't have those haha

2018-07-19 22:18:49 UTC

I'm looking for a street legal vehicle that is 55" in width or less

2018-07-19 22:18:59 UTC

so I can take it on trails

2018-07-19 22:19:49 UTC

I don't see why the mini pickup wouldn't be street legal, but the mini is wider than 55in

2018-07-19 22:20:35 UTC

oh my mistake, the mini is dead on 55

2018-07-19 22:21:44 UTC

I think the mini pickup would probably be too expensive though, not many were made and most rusted to shit so they're rare as hell now

2018-07-19 22:22:28 UTC

Its also front wheel drive, and would be useless off road

2018-07-19 22:24:01 UTC

uh... I think you'll find that a) fwd is usually better than rwd off road and b) the mini, aside from the lower than ideal clearance, is damn good off road for what it is

2018-07-19 22:25:05 UTC

<:what:382980756139409409> Nigga, go get yourself a VW beetle.

2018-07-19 22:25:16 UTC

fwd better off-road my ass

2018-07-19 22:25:17 UTC

the mini was better than the beetle

2018-07-19 22:25:27 UTC

and much better off road

2018-07-19 22:25:31 UTC

That's not off-road, that's gravel.

2018-07-19 22:25:52 UTC

the problem with the mini off road was the sump was somewhat vulnerable

2018-07-19 22:27:56 UTC

also the beetle is too wide for your criteria anyway

2018-07-19 22:29:09 UTC

I wasn't saying it was. I'm just comparing a similar vehicle class with a different engine arrangement

2018-07-19 22:29:15 UTC

2018-07-19 22:29:25 UTC

A mini couldn't do that methinks

2018-07-19 22:31:50 UTC

not without being lifted and would ideally want wider wheels pushing it over the 55in

2018-07-19 22:32:19 UTC

the clearance is the main issue though, like I said the sump is pretty vulnerable

2018-07-19 22:32:31 UTC

I honestly wouldn't think a trike would do well on that either though

2018-07-19 22:33:21 UTC

holy shit

2018-07-19 22:34:00 UTC

I've been down a road like that in multiple normal fwd cars, tire placement ends up being the most important thing.

2018-07-19 22:34:19 UTC

it's 11 inches over on width but it would be ideal, and cheap

2018-07-19 22:38:08 UTC

Lol we ain't got Ladas

2018-07-19 22:38:38 UTC

closest appx is the Wrangler, CJ and YJ

2018-07-19 22:39:04 UTC

And the Samurai/Jimny

2018-07-19 22:40:17 UTC

If you're in the US you could bring anything in over 25yrs right?

2018-07-19 22:40:34 UTC

Yeah, but import fees, and then parts, etc

2018-07-19 22:41:14 UTC

A working lada niva is probably gonna cost like 3-4k USD with import fees

2018-07-19 22:41:18 UTC

they are not expensive cars

2018-07-19 22:41:34 UTC

A running Samurai is like 1500

2018-07-19 22:42:00 UTC

significantly larger than the niva though

2018-07-19 22:42:08 UTC

is it?

2018-07-19 22:42:17 UTC

the niva is a tiny hatchback basically

2018-07-19 22:42:24 UTC

but with awd

2018-07-19 22:42:30 UTC

it's a weird little thing

2018-07-19 22:42:31 UTC

I think they're the same size

2018-07-19 22:43:41 UTC

Oh I didn't know how slim the samurai was

2018-07-19 22:43:42 UTC

damn

2018-07-19 22:44:22 UTC

the samurai is probably the best option then really

2018-07-20 00:28:43 UTC

Just get a Mirage with a lift kit

2018-07-20 01:08:49 UTC

that isn't real

2018-07-20 01:08:53 UTC

it's a mirage

2018-07-20 02:48:10 UTC

Me: no crazy mods for this car. Its an econobox. Its meant to be efficient, and its never gonna be a sports car.

2018-07-20 02:48:13 UTC

Also me: ...and then after the turbo upgrade I'll get a new cam!

2018-07-20 11:13:43 UTC

I wouldn't pour money into a cruze, you'll hit power plateau very quickly and you'd be better off spending the money on a second project car with a less limiting engine in terms of tuning

2018-07-20 12:58:34 UTC

@LOGiK intellectually i know that. But its hard to resist lol.

2018-07-20 12:59:28 UTC

I probably won't do turbo or cam upgrades. But with upgraded intercooler lines, upgraded transmission, and a tune i can easily get the car to 250hp.

2018-07-20 13:16:06 UTC

upgrading your transmission seems like you're suggesting some expensive work

2018-07-20 13:29:35 UTC

By the time i do that, i would at least be close to a clutch replacement anyway

2018-07-20 13:38:56 UTC

also I think you're overestimating the power of the 1.4t, I might be mistaken but even going full stage 2 on that engine is probably only going to see 190 so you'd need to be stage 3+ which is gonna cost a lot of money and I mean a lot of money

2018-07-20 13:39:43 UTC

and it'll probably need a bigger turbo for over 200, which will probably mean bigger injectors and fuel pump to supply it and get rid of lag

2018-07-20 13:42:59 UTC

but I really don't know what you'd be upgrading your transmission to, I don't know what you've already got but for the most part replacing transmissions is an expensive exercise in any car

2018-07-20 13:44:08 UTC

even if you have a reliable cheap mechanic and a car that lends itself to transmission swaps, it's still usually a $250-500 job when it's easy work, if it's complex or difficult in any way labour ends up in the 000s

2018-07-20 13:53:07 UTC

"Last I recall, OnlyTaurus was one of the highest I've seen on the site. He's since parted ways with the Cruze =[think he was pushing 210HP/270TQ"

2018-07-20 13:53:18 UTC

Reminder the fastest Cruze made 210

2018-07-20 13:53:25 UTC

Just drive it into the ocean

2018-07-20 13:53:28 UTC

Fucking piece of shit
