I don't see why the mini pickup wouldn't be street legal, but the mini is wider than 55in

I think the mini pickup would probably be too expensive though, not many were made and most rusted to shit so they're rare as hell now
Its also front wheel drive, and would be useless off road
uh... I think you'll find that a) fwd is usually better than rwd off road and b) the mini, aside from the lower than ideal clearance, is damn good off road for what it is

the problem with the mini off road was the sump was somewhat vulnerable
also the beetle is too wide for your criteria anyway

not without being lifted and would ideally want wider wheels pushing it over the 55in
the clearance is the main issue though, like I said the sump is pretty vulnerable

I've been down a road like that in multiple normal fwd cars, tire placement ends up being the most important thing.
