"Yeah, about that EcoBoost engine lol

Pretty much all of them are at risk for head warpage prior to 50k miles

The cylinders have a "water cooled jacket", so they're only attached to the rest of the head at the bottom end"

2018-07-20 18:40:17 UTC

Tune of what? An ECU remap?

2018-07-20 18:40:23 UTC

Yes

2018-07-20 18:40:30 UTC

It's called an open deck, and it's only one motor that's open deck.

2018-07-20 18:41:00 UTC

Also that thread sounds about like what i was saying

2018-07-20 18:41:04 UTC

190hp is easy

2018-07-20 18:41:11 UTC

Above 200hp takes work

2018-07-20 18:41:28 UTC

Which, tbf, isnt worth it on an econobox

2018-07-20 18:41:44 UTC

I have seen people do it, but they throw tons of money at it

2018-07-20 18:42:00 UTC

I might do that if i get a second car tho

2018-07-20 18:43:28 UTC

at no point does it suggest 190 was easy, unfortunately the guy removed his setup from his signature but he does say he was running 33% E85 mixed with 93 gas

2018-07-20 18:43:48 UTC

Also just saying. The bit that started this, with me talking about cam and turbo upgrades, was a joke.

2018-07-20 18:44:09 UTC

Also i gave a range. 180 to 190. Not just 190

2018-07-20 18:44:36 UTC

Tune by itself gives 39 to 50 hp iirc.

2018-07-20 18:44:47 UTC

From trifecta at least.

2018-07-20 18:44:59 UTC

Bnr has a less aggressive tune i think

2018-07-20 18:46:49 UTC

Now maybe when i was looking this shit up before i missed details about using e85 to get those last few horses

2018-07-20 18:47:00 UTC

Absolutely possible. Likely, in fact

2018-07-20 18:47:32 UTC

But even 180hp is a sizeable increase in juice for just an intake, exhaust, and ecu tune

2018-07-20 18:48:27 UTC

Anything beyond that is messing around for fun on an extra car. You are absolutely right in saying its probably not worth it. @LOGiK

2018-07-20 18:54:06 UTC

I question the use of e85 tho.

2018-07-20 18:54:22 UTC

For just 10 to 15hp, doesnt seem worth the hassle

2018-07-20 18:55:58 UTC

does your car have a 126mph limiter on it?

2018-07-20 18:58:41 UTC

also the 180 is probably gonna need a decat without other mods from what I can see

2018-07-20 19:03:03 UTC

HOLY SHIT EBAY SELLERS SUCK BALLS FML

2018-07-20 19:08:43 UTC

Well yeah.

2018-07-20 19:12:33 UTC

dude

2018-07-20 19:12:41 UTC

I just wanna fucking buy something and pick it up

2018-07-20 19:12:44 UTC

not pay postage

2018-07-20 19:12:47 UTC

I messaged the dude

2018-07-20 19:12:52 UTC

he responds

2018-07-20 19:13:09 UTC

I tell him he needs to amend his goddamn ebay listing because it forces full payment at present

2018-07-20 19:13:11 UTC

nothing

2018-07-20 19:15:52 UTC

I also want this but I can't justify the cost right now

2018-07-20 20:23:22 UTC

Whenever i see Brembo it looks like Bimbo at first glance

2018-07-20 20:23:26 UTC

Bimbo brakes

2018-07-20 20:43:04 UTC

Ugly small brakes

2018-07-20 21:07:16 UTC

Lol

Big Tits on BIG Wheels

2018-07-20 23:01:12 UTC

Last thing I'll post on this subject

2018-07-20 23:01:29 UTC

But really, the Cruze is not a bad car for light to medium mods

2018-07-20 23:07:42 UTC

Some of the stuff they talk about is just _yeesh_

2018-07-20 23:08:00 UTC

240hp with an upgraded stock turbo and e85 kit is just too much

2018-07-20 23:18:41 UTC

"brake fluid upgrade"

2018-07-20 23:20:15 UTC

Yeah lol i dont see that doing much

you gotta protect your investment my dude

2018-07-20 23:21:37 UTC

Alright sure, replace the brake fluid

2018-07-20 23:21:48 UTC

But calling it an upgrade is stupid

if you increase power maybe I guess so

we don't want school run mom brake fluid eh?

2018-07-20 23:23:58 UTC

I figure what he means is he replaced dot3 with like dot5.1 or something

2018-07-20 23:24:12 UTC

but I don't see why you'd even mention it

That, it is a upgrade

2018-07-20 23:25:13 UTC

* *vapes* Yeah, I totally replaced the engine oil with Amsoil synthetic.*

but it came with everything else or you end up falling off cliff

he just wants credit for bleeding it out

he can bleed a brake line, can you?

2018-07-20 23:27:18 UTC

the actual performance difference would be down to the boiling point and my bet is you'd max out even upgraded calipers and rotors before you reached even the dot3 boiling point

2018-07-20 23:28:18 UTC

the cruze isn't designed as a performance car so unless you really went crazy on brakes I doubt "upgrading" the fluid will ever do anything

but it's still an upgrade

2018-07-20 23:34:05 UTC

I'm not really sure if you can call something that makes no difference to performance an upgrade

2018-07-20 23:34:34 UTC

like, if you bolted a gt28 onto a 50cc, is that an upgrade?

2018-07-20 23:34:47 UTC

the engine would never spool it, it would never actually do anything

2018-07-20 23:34:54 UTC

have you upgraded the engine?

have you upgraded the car?

2018-07-20 23:44:07 UTC

What I'm saying is if you add bits onto a car that have the potential to increase performance but for whatever reason due to the configuration the vehicle is unable to utilise the potential, is that an upgrade?

2018-07-20 23:44:11 UTC

I don't think it is

2018-07-20 23:45:30 UTC

the best example would actually be adding rear spoilers to fwd cars

if I can get 0.1 of a second

2018-07-21 01:42:45 UTC

@LOGiK if your car cant feasibly use an upgrade, its really just...nothing really

2018-07-21 01:43:09 UTC

If its not visible, you cant even call it rice. Its even less useful

2018-07-21 02:18:19 UTC

fucking cool

2018-07-21 02:20:07 UTC
2018-07-21 02:20:37 UTC

I don't think that's quite in the same bracket lol

2018-07-21 02:20:57 UTC

@LOGiK It's shorter, but the underpinnings are very similar.

it's white, i'm racist against white cars

2018-07-21 02:21:39 UTC

no awd or 3sgte though

2018-07-21 02:21:51 UTC

It's AWD

2018-07-21 02:22:08 UTC

and the 3S swaps in easily (for a FWD car)

2018-07-21 02:23:16 UTC

lol but yeah, it's nothing compared to a Caldina

2018-07-21 02:23:48 UTC

as far as I can tell the caldina is basically a celica gt4 estate/wagon, but I don't know much about them

2018-07-21 02:24:27 UTC

Sort of. The transmissions aren't nearly as strong as the Celica GT4

2018-07-21 02:24:36 UTC

Those were pretty unique

2018-07-21 02:24:41 UTC

well that has some garbage ass triptronic shit

2018-07-21 02:25:12 UTC

And the "center" differential is different as well

2018-07-21 02:25:42 UTC

it's weird how nice cars often end up with garbage transmissions

2018-07-21 02:26:05 UTC

my friends stagea has some shitty slushbox in it that he still hasn't replaced yet

2018-07-21 02:27:16 UTC

he needs to hurry up with that, he bought that car for like ยฃ900 and it's worth like 4x that now
