Arguably if something is direct/immediate, there is little use in creating a model of it

2017-02-20 22:44:52 UTC

That is true. It is right there to be reflected on.

2017-02-20 22:45:36 UTC

@redpillavatar Have all of those reddits been banned? Maybe a replacement will crop up then if anybody wants to bother.

Impressions don't come from theorizing; in order to be called an impression, it must come from very little effort.

Forgot to address that

If you're saying that art comes from impressions, then I will take this in support of my position

cheers

2017-02-20 22:50:37 UTC

An impression can come from anything. It can even come from inside of your own head. Just because it can lead to expression in art does not mean that it is correct.

it can't come from theorizing since a theory results from conscious thought

2017-02-20 22:53:50 UTC

Thought can lead to an impression on the nature of a subject.

well then you mean something else by the word impression

2017-02-20 22:57:09 UTC

Correct. I don't mean just that an external thing impresses on another, I mean an idea. Really, not even necessarily an idea. It can be a feeling about something, an unformed thought in the back of the head. A theme on the form and nature of a subject. The human being does this all of the time. In response to the external as well as the internal.

2017-02-20 22:58:21 UTC

Fuck the universe!

2017-02-20 22:59:02 UTC

Tom of Finland had a similar thought.

how do you get an unformed thought out of engaging with formed thoughts and evidence ?

2017-02-20 23:01:18 UTC

People do it all the time. Haven't you ever struggled with wrapping your head around something?

ostensibly, a theory is about something and results from conscious effort put into thinking about that something. You're telling me that by engaging with the thinking about something that we can get an idea about that something that's unrelated to the thinking?

2017-02-20 23:06:18 UTC

Or not have a complete idea. Not have a complete impression. Not have a full conceptualization. An incomplete thought. A train of thinking that doesn't go anywhere and doesn't complete. An incomplete conclusion. The very process is muddled and vague. Or even, there is a conclusion in there. There is a knee jerk reaction and it goes without understanding, without verbalization.

2017-02-20 23:08:41 UTC

Might I also note that you are the one who associates abstraction with intellectual thought.

because it's the fact of the matter

The point of an impression is that it's not a struggle to comprehend.

2017-02-20 23:10:32 UTC

An impression can arise from a struggle to comprehend.

Dude it's in the definition

2017-02-20 23:12:18 UTC

A strong effect produced on the intellect, emotions and conscience. That does not mean that when one is in thought, or when one is struggling to understand something, that the thinking itself does not lead to the same effects.

You said first you meant impression as an idea, albeit incomplete, unformed, etc. But just now you reference impression as an affect.

the context is shifting around

I'm stupid but not that stupid

2017-02-20 23:19:50 UTC

A thought from a thought from a thought from a thought. Kind of like an echo, within an echo, within an echo. Spectra within spectra. Or maybe I just wasn't clear about the the specificity of how I used the word?

2017-02-20 23:19:59 UTC

they're not looking to subvert the legitimacy of the movement, since there really is no movement. alt-right is too wide to really be suggestive of any motion.

2017-02-21 00:46:07 UTC

What is with calling it "thulean" perspective? Further, what in the world would a typical mongrel want to protect with civilization? Or maybe he thinks it was just an excuse to put on airs all day?

2017-02-21 00:48:15 UTC

THULEAN = HYPERBOREAN

2017-02-21 00:49:19 UTC

Yes but, he then says that mongrels invented civilization. What Thulean would say that?

2017-02-21 00:54:28 UTC

Thulean truthtelling

2017-02-21 00:54:53 UTC

Bah!! I reject the notion.

2017-02-21 00:55:25 UTC

Perhaps too modern of a sense of what mongrelization is.

2017-02-21 00:55:35 UTC

He thinks that civilization is compensation for weakness

2017-02-21 00:55:46 UTC

Ah, that too.

2017-02-21 00:55:52 UTC

Lack of harmony with the environment

One would wonder if beavers are weak because they build dams or whatever by that logic

2017-02-21 00:57:06 UTC

But I don't think he includes small scale civilization like homesteads and towns in that definition

2017-02-21 00:57:52 UTC

He is probably clinging to the fact that the Romans were Etruscan and possibly early Greeks mixed. Therefore, bring on the beige race and Obamacare!!

2017-02-21 00:58:10 UTC

Yeah he's gay

2017-02-21 00:58:37 UTC

But calling civilization "mongerl invention' has to be the dumbest thing i have heard for the last 2 years

2017-02-21 00:58:58 UTC
