Weโ€™re talking about shifts within polls, not whether it captures โ€œthe truthโ€

2019-10-03 12:54:36 UTC

Aggregates of polls arenโ€™t inherently better. It assumes that the aggregate bias is neutral

2019-10-03 12:54:39 UTC

So itโ€™s one thing to say that a poll isnโ€™t correctly reading the signal

2019-10-03 12:54:40 UTC

And itโ€™s not

2019-10-03 12:54:51 UTC

No, thatโ€™s not accurate

2019-10-03 12:54:59 UTC

Where did you get that idea

2019-10-03 12:55:10 UTC

I have class in 5 mins. Have a good day Sophie.

2019-10-03 12:55:33 UTC

I hope itโ€™s a statistics class.

2019-10-03 14:02:59 UTC

Sorry wrong send

<:laugh:583238348077006869>

2019-10-03 14:09:25 UTC

Lol

2019-10-03 14:10:52 UTC

Level setting though- with or without impeachment

2019-10-03 14:11:05 UTC

Democrats have a 7 point lead in the generic ballot

2019-10-03 14:11:28 UTC

IF that holds, trump canโ€™t really win the presidency

2019-10-03 14:14:20 UTC

Also, revising my statement to @Pelth

2019-10-03 14:14:55 UTC

Trumpโ€™s approval rating as dropped 1.9% since pelosi announced an impeachment inquiry

2019-10-03 14:24:57 UTC

I mean we all saw how quickly people like Kamala and Biden were completely thrown into the trash from a front runner position.

2019-10-03 14:25:25 UTC

Bernie is in the hospital with an uncertain future

2019-10-03 14:25:58 UTC

Warren has a very questionable history with lots of baggage that she can be roasted about.

2019-10-03 14:26:23 UTC

Itโ€™s only a matter of time before an assault on her begins in earnest

2019-10-03 14:27:05 UTC

Like Zuckerberg even said he would be forced to sue the government if warren wins and enacts her campaign promises

2019-10-03 14:28:43 UTC

Trump has essentially unlimited resources this time around.

2019-10-03 14:31:17 UTC

Are you a trump supporter?

2019-10-03 14:35:38 UTC

๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ™

2019-10-03 14:35:46 UTC

Ofc

2019-10-03 14:36:38 UTC

Odd

2019-10-03 14:38:30 UTC

Heads up opinion polls this early in the game are also somewhat worthless. Most Americans have little to no knowledge of Democrat policy positions. When they realize later on into the campaign cycle just how radical they are this time, theyโ€™ll wholeheartedly or at least reluctantly go with trump.

2019-10-03 14:40:02 UTC

I agree its too early.

2019-10-03 14:41:03 UTC

Really don't understand how anyone could support Trump

2019-10-03 14:41:03 UTC

GG @pennypal, you just advanced to level 1!

2019-10-03 14:43:37 UTC

I mean I can, pretty much all the allegations against him as president have fallen flat, so people see him as the sort of political underdog

2019-10-03 14:44:06 UTC

And because his policies aren't nearly as radical as the DNC

2019-10-03 14:44:25 UTC

Even though he's an asshole

2019-10-03 14:45:32 UTC

Even if you like his policies hes setting precedent that youre not gonna like if a potus in the future on the opposite side uses.

2019-10-03 14:46:13 UTC

You're gonna have to explain a bit

2019-10-03 14:46:34 UTC

What's the precedent you're referring to exactly?

2019-10-03 14:50:13 UTC

Using the office as a vehicle to pursue political opponents, disregard for the rule of law and checks and balances

2019-10-03 14:50:44 UTC

The exact same applies to the Democrats

2019-10-03 14:50:45 UTC

1. He's cancel all daily press briefings. 2. He communicates via Twitter and claims he's joking so that I can get away with saying anything. 3. He only feels responsibility towards the people who elected him... And criticizes and discounts everybody who didn't 4. He signs executive orders to do just about anything because he can't gey congress to agree. ... The list of unprecedented acts is large

2019-10-03 14:51:07 UTC

That's a fair point

2019-10-03 14:51:17 UTC

No, thatโ€™s the manufactured smear the media uses. The media doesnโ€™t care about the facts, only the spin.

2019-10-03 14:51:36 UTC

At least with his communication and his behavior

2019-10-03 14:51:55 UTC

I have my own opinion I don't have to reiterate what the media says

2019-10-03 14:52:01 UTC

Some presidents have used like over 3000 executive orders and were universally beloved

2019-10-03 14:52:09 UTC

The precedent is already there

2019-10-03 14:52:26 UTC

There is precedent for insanely powerful presidents

2019-10-03 14:53:54 UTC

Presidents are not supposed to be insanely powerful.. that makes Kings

2019-10-03 14:54:00 UTC

She did not once mention executive orders

2019-10-03 14:54:15 UTC

Are you illiterate?

2019-10-03 14:54:15 UTC

Yes she did

2019-10-03 14:54:27 UTC

2019-10-03 14:54:55 UTC

He signs executive orders to do just about anything because he can't gey congress to agree. ... The list of unprecedented acts is large

2019-10-03 14:57:02 UTC

Ah sorry missed that

2019-10-03 14:57:17 UTC

The president by design, is as powerful as he needs to be. The whole clause on executive orders was left intentionally vague.

2019-10-03 14:57:20 UTC

We all miss shit

2019-10-03 14:57:48 UTC

The Supreme Court is there to tell the president what is out of bounds

2019-10-03 14:57:58 UTC

@Pelth I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s true. There are a lot of powers that the legislature is supposed to have that have been taken over by the executive over the years

2019-10-03 14:58:09 UTC

Like diverting funds from the military for the wall after it was rejected by the Congress.

2019-10-03 14:58:34 UTC

Sure the supreme Court can get involved but it takes decades sometimes to get the right case.

2019-10-03 14:58:37 UTC

There is absolutely no reason why he shouldnโ€™t be able to divert funds that were already allocated

2019-10-03 14:58:48 UTC

He is in charge of the military

2019-10-03 14:58:49 UTC

Of course there is

2019-10-03 14:58:56 UTC

Well, because thatโ€™s not how itโ€™s laid out in he constitution pelth

2019-10-03 14:58:58 UTC

Congress is supposed to and the power of the purse

2019-10-03 14:59:02 UTC

No itโ€™s not

2019-10-03 14:59:09 UTC

...yes it is

2019-10-03 14:59:21 UTC

It says says that in the constitution

2019-10-03 14:59:32 UTC

Wholesale budget reallocations are much more common than you think

2019-10-03 14:59:33 UTC

Pelth sincerely- have you read the constitution?

2019-10-03 14:59:42 UTC

the federal government of the United States, theย power of the purse isย vested in the Congress as laid down in theย Constitutionย of the United States, Article I, Section 9, Clause 7 (the Appropriations Clause) and Article I, Section 8, Clause 1 (the Taxing and Spending Clause).

2019-10-03 14:59:47 UTC

For instance?

2019-10-03 14:59:51 UTC

It was only made controversial because the liberals donโ€™t want him to build a wall

2019-10-03 15:00:04 UTC

So when else has something like this happened?

2019-10-03 15:00:05 UTC

You're diverting topic

2019-10-03 15:00:11 UTC

Heโ€™s also lying

2019-10-03 15:00:18 UTC

Let's get back to the Constitution

2019-10-03 15:00:36 UTC

Congress controls the purse, not the particulars in how each dollar is spent

2019-10-03 15:00:44 UTC

False.

2019-10-03 15:01:02 UTC

Congress allocates the money and says how it should be spent

2019-10-03 15:01:14 UTC

The power of the purse plays a critical role in theย relationshipย of theย United States Congressย and theย President of the United States, and has been the main historic tool by which Congress has limited executive power. One of the most prominent examples is theย Foreign Assistance Act of 1974, which eliminated all military funding for the government ofย South Vietnamย and thereby ended theย Vietnam War. Other recent examples include limitations on military funding placed onย Ronald Reaganย by Congress, which led to the withdrawal ofย United States Marinesย fromย Lebanon.

2019-10-03 15:01:15 UTC

GG @pennypal, you just advanced to level 2!

2019-10-03 15:01:35 UTC

The money was budgeted for military construction and is being spent for military construction

2019-10-03 15:01:49 UTC

The wall is a pet project of trump and has nothing to do with the military

2019-10-03 15:02:16 UTC

Immigration security is national security

2019-10-03 15:02:25 UTC

Or is there an invasion?

2019-10-03 15:02:37 UTC

Yes, by criminal aliens

2019-10-03 15:02:42 UTC

Lol

2019-10-03 15:03:02 UTC

There are more people overstaying their visas illegally... And by the way that's how the 9/11 bombers got in

2019-10-03 15:03:08 UTC

Correct

2019-10-03 15:03:23 UTC

To date no terrorists have come in through the southern border

2019-10-03 15:03:25 UTC

Also, the military is expressly forbade from engaging in law enforcement

2019-10-03 15:03:37 UTC

In fairness, pelth is literally an avowed fascist

2019-10-03 15:03:37 UTC

It was found to be appropriate for him to use the money for the wall so youโ€™re arguing based off incorrect interpretations

2019-10-03 15:03:45 UTC

It was not

2019-10-03 15:03:49 UTC

Yes it was

2019-10-03 15:03:51 UTC

Right. When Trump sent troops to the southern border they couldn't do anything

2019-10-03 15:03:56 UTC

He was cleared by the courts

2019-10-03 15:03:56 UTC

If you believe that is true, you do not understand the ruling

2019-10-03 15:04:15 UTC

No, it was ruled that the president has discretion while the case is decide
