Medium, yeah, low/very low, nah
Even for medium settings (and decent framerate) you're gonna need a beast (for a laptop)
some do in low but yeah in low-very low mark it starts to become up to devs if they wanted to see effort for those
You can drop like 600 and be perfectly fine
1050/ti is good enough, vidya is a meme tho
Intel
Even on desktop 1050 is very barely appropriate for 'serious' gaming
Jajajaja
Pro gamer larpers are prime market
Yeah and?
?
What I'm trying to point out is that the kind of performance you get for those mid/high end laptop could be achieved for a way cheaper pricemark on desktop
!
+ upgradeability
Wow
can someone write this down? that's some incredible findings
Youre a genius mate
ikr
Im still playing the normie popular games fine on a 5 year old i3 and a 750ti
Lowest settings on an older CPU.
I got a gaymer meme a few years ago but vr made it worthwhile
The thing is, with the price difference of a gaming desktop vs gaming laptop you could buy yourself a lightweight laptop and remotely do whatever you want on your desktop without that much of a difference in useability
^
It might have not been possible 5 years+ ago, but nowadays it's very much doable with very little effort
Just ssh in for rendering, normie shit like videos, word processing etc is fine on a laptop
Yeah
okay so lets drop the meme here https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Overclockable-Aeroblade-PH315-51-78NP/dp/B07CTHLX8C
<:alismirk:230784726615588865>
invidual performance set for same price go
I wouldn't say ssh tho because it's kinda not very well made for remote desktop but well
remember to include equal monitor, some form of keyboard and mouse oh and the remote laptop too to the price
with intel I can save on heating costs, AMD btfo once again
Sure
He got something like 5-10 minutes of battery life.
I'm *barely* memeing too, that's the scary part.
and thats more like draggable than portable too
if you use a laptop like this unironically as a portable device you will $100% be labeled as an autist to basically everyone, techie or non-techie
like i used to think carrying a thinkpad was autist enough but
@Windatica Dude... man... ๐ฆ
I have a ThiccPad with an Arch sticker on it.
I attract autisticos left and right.
I regret everything.
take the stickers off
somehow this doesnt surprise me
Earlier this semester some dude came up to me, all gayflirty-like, "Hey, I noticed your Arch sticker. I use Ubuntu myself. Do you use vim?"
And a week or two ago some guy went "Hey, I use a ThinkPad too! [proceed to chat about ThinkPad things]"
๐
maybe you just looked lonely and they thought you might need some friends @kontroll
๐ค
That last guy... you might be right.
are you in compsci? compsci has a lot of weird kids in my uni
The usual nerds I talk to hadn't showed up yet as I was waiting outside the lecture hall.
Nop. Basically as far removed from that as is "reasonable."
(I'm taking English and History)
Idk why I'm excited about building a new computer with betterer performances.
I barely play any gaymes anyway...
And before you tell me it's only 100 USD cheaper, your laptop have a way better deal than most of the components I chose
And except for the RAM (which is obviously not the most expensive thing in the setting, and only have a 16% rebate), almost everything is full priced
CPU is way better, GPU is a tad lower
That's mainly because I couldn't find a GPU that wasn't disproportionately more powerful and expensive
Who is that link for?
Tux sticker on the x60
Also Amazon.com only because I'm very lazy
nm
I'm blind.
Buying a huge gaming laptop hurts the laptop part since its a pain
That + your back but if you're young enough you probably don't care about that (yet)
The x200 is literally perfect for note taking
Also probably couldn't find the best deals ever because I'm not murican so I don't know where the good deals are
Small, light, durable, 16:10
Yeah
I have an X270
This thing is fucking great
Based
The only downside is that I don't have the most advanced model (no 2nd battery and no fingerprint reader)
But that's mainly quality of life stuff
Thats still missing the laptop you are using to remote into desktop (so extra 100-300) and does not have apparently bluetooth nor wireless
I got that too, its ok and ryzeb
N
For the laptop I assumed you didn't want to include it but yeah since it's 100 USD cheaper (and once again probably more if you lurk for good deals) you can get a difference big enough for a good laptop
And if i were bitch id say its also missing the assembly service :P
Bluetooth and wireless are... well I'll say unecessary but it's mainly my usecase
Though it's probably gonna be around a few tens bucks
And assembly yeah it's gonna be nitpicking here
It's really easy af nowadays
But indeed same pricepoints for near equal performance with more effort and zero mobility
What's the ryzen one?
I mean what CPU do you have with that x200 ?
Then ofc inbuilt ups on laptops is nice feature at times
Yeah, but you're forgetting a lot of stuff if you just stop the comparison here
Here I took it from nothing, like you don't own anything beforehand
If I were to apply that to me or a lot of people I could re-use my case /PSU/ screen and maybe a few other things (SSD and *maybe* ram)
So you could scratch it from the list
So technically you could get better if you compared it for a more lenghty period of time
(because let's be honest, upgrading a laptop is a joke)
but i do admit that comparing desktop vs that Helios was intentional as AC-wireless and 144hz+ IPS monitor rises the price quite bit
but yeah they are equal prices in paper just for different kind of preferences and usage times
i would never work on laptop more than 3 hours continously (even that is at times pushing it)
unless it has proper extra screen and kb+mouse
but most people know they dont need it that much but still want that performance for when they do
To be perfectly honest though
If you want to compare laptop to desktop
In gaming i mean
17:05] Tervy: i would never work on laptop more than 3 hours continously (even that is at times pushing it)
[17:05] Tervy: unless it has proper extra screen and kb+mouse

You should probably compare mid/high end laptop WITHOUT GPU and use an external GPU
Just like a desktop, the case is gonna be costy the first time, but it's gonna be reusable with future generations
And you're gonna get almost desktop performance without killing your components with the heat
(or not that much)
true even tho that still defeats the mobility and form factor what laptops give
but that makes them tad bit more upgradable
Yeah... but then I imagine a use case where you don't game in a plane/train but in a more "stationary" position
So installing your external GPU is possible
indeed
You still have to carry it around, but that's doable
[heat dissipation]
And not *that much* of a hassle
Since it's external it's way less of a pain to manage actually
thank god those external drives (and our connector protocols) are jumping leaps and bounds lately
so such devices become more and more valid options
Yeah... but I still don't feel confident with using them for sensitive datas
I'd rather waste a lot of time and money into upgrading an internal SSD/HDD in a laptop than carry an external drive
But then again, I have a different usecase
not that much improvement over SKL
๐ ๐
skl was only that slow because intel nerfed the dualcores at normal tdp
Fooking chink nibbas...!
I turned off the brightness auto adjust feature.
There's still a milder version of the shit running...
(RN7)
That is retarded, time to flash a new rom
Agreed.
Is wangblows 1905 finally out?
i think it is
I seem to be stuck at 1809
rollout is gradual anyway apparently
>check updates
>you're up to date
>check again
>downloading update
Thanks windows
By clicking check update twice you override it
And skip the rollout
Woah really?
Yeah I read something like that recently
It's new since last release
Interesting
Still didn't get the 1905 though, it was just don'te minor updates
because 1905 isn't released yet
Whyd you want updates?
It's not? I thought it's out
Ok then
"UPDATE AVAILABLE"
>start updater
>no updates
<:chink:323022148870602752>
wow, porco's been busy

Really makes you think, doesn't it?
Oy gevalt, the goyim wants privacy to talk about their hate secretly. They myght be planning anoddah shoah!
Like clockwork. Back to /pol/ , fag
only thing they're right about is that the gov can't protect us from tech companies stealing our data
Matthew, just because you're homosexual does not mean everyone else is. "Go back to /pol", says the guy with a weeb avatar.
Shoo shoo off to /pol/
if its got magnets is probably a hall effect keyboard

I love watching Tech Expo footage. Sneaky chinks walking around everywhere, taking pictures so they can bootleg the fuck out of everything
>ryzen 2
Can't even get the name right
3d nand vs TLC
Which is better
TLC is 3d nand
Trying to chose between these 2 ssds
i would stick with the samsung just because they're a reliable brand
besides that, crucial and intel
samsung gives you a 5 year warranty
while the adata is 3 years
other than that, the samsung one is a little faster
I have an Adata drive. It's okay. I haven't benchmarked it, and it hasn't broken. It performs well enough for me.
also the samsung one has SLC cache
while the adata one does not
That said, if they're similarly priced, I would go for the Samsung alternative. Feels better, I guess.
MX500 1TB is also worth a look
it's cheaper than the samsung one
That explains why the adata one is 50 euro cheaper
my g102 is doubleclicking, are aliexpress mouse switches good as replacement
just get a an intellimouse pro
:^)
i'm just looking to fix my mouse
they all use omron/huano switches in the end so it doesnt matter
they come from the same factories
there is no issue in replacing an omron with a huano?
as long as the pinout and dimensions matter, no
*mech switch waifus*
<:thonk:288060975775612929>
Are there that many kinds
How do you even know which one you would want
by feeling
wrong
by listening to shitposters on the internet
true
if you buy modern cherry switches ur a cuck btw
:^)
Feeling?
That feel when nice keyboard switch
you buy the most meme-y switched that you can find then you yell at people o the internet if they get a different switch than you
Finally notches and holes in screen can die
Haha thought that was a folding meme for a sec
Id atleast like to be able to cover the camera without messing the screen, the notch was pointless anyway, it was like a cm on top for speakers/sensors too
so
will this raise prices of screen replacements?
and did in-screen fingerprint sensors raise prices of screens?
Is the screen on top of the camera internally, does it go in a slot or is it embedded
@Cole question is more that does the system regonise the fingerprint reader as "valid device" when switched
fair point, too
if they are done smartly(secure as possible) the identifiers of reader would be tied to chip so no other reader would work unless devtooled into the security chip at legit repairshop
tho considering inscreen fingerprint readers... when you can open your phone with knuckles, other peoples fingerprints, tissue boxes, apples , what not
